newsletterThe latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the 6th to 9th April 2023

The Force delivered last week’s newsletter Best Bet in what was one of the most dramatic punting weekends I have had for some time.

I was up and down all weekend and slightly ahead of the bookmakers heading into the Stormers v Harlequins game.  Had the lines been out when I sent the newsletter, Harlequins over 23.5 points would have been my best bet and I climbed in at that level only to find some 22.5 available which had me doubling up.

An early Harlequins try settled the nerves, but there was nothing to follow and heading into the final 5 minutes the score was 32-7 and although usually the last of the optimists  I had long written this bet off.  What followed was 3 Quins tries in unbelievably quick succession and I was shaking as the TMO allowed the final try to stand and the occurrence (for me at any rate) a punting miracle to occur.

All of a sudden I was full of confidence and firing into the Lions v Racing match where I was big on over 6.5 tries and also backed Racing to score over 27.5.  Things were rolling my way as they got 28 exactly with all 4 tries converted and that Harlequins game had triggered a massive positive swing in my weekend.

There are of course two sides to every story and there were a few punters on Twitter on the -7.5 Stormers who could not believe that their winning bet was taken from them in such cruel fashion.

SCHEFFLER TO DOUBLE UP

I am currently down in George watching my son play a Rugby Tour and won’t be in position to send this newsletter on Friday so rather than not sending one I am bringing it out early as there is something I really fancy in this US Masters getting going later today.

Defending the US Masters in not an easy task, but I am strong on Scottie Scheffler this week.  He is playing some excellent golf and is a recent winner on Tour and he really has everything required to win at this course as he showed in 2022.

I wouldn’t normally highlight a bet like this in the newsletter, but when combined with BetXchange’s Top 3 and ties Promo I think it is great value.

Basically if you back a player before the start of the Tournament and he doesn’t win, but finishes in the Top 3 including ties you get your money back.  Betx currently have 7/1 Scheffler and while he is slightly bigger than that with some books, given the added insurance of the money back offer I am going to have (by golf standards at any rate) a decent strike on this one.

BET:  2 Units, Scheffler win at 7/1 at BetXchange

The rugby preview templates are up on Goodforthegame and suggested bets will be added as kick offs approach.

Have a great and profitable long weekend and let’s hope we are all up late to watch the last 9 of the Masters on Sunday as we shout the defending champ home.

Cheers
