Premier League Opening Weekend Preview.

The long-awaited 2023/2024 Premier League season commences on Friday night as football fans are for the taste of England`s top-flight. We`ve picked 3 games we`re keeping an eye on in the opening weekend!

Burnley vs Manchester City

The 2022/2023 Championship champions are up for an early challenge. Although the Clarets impressed everybody with their Championship campaign, they`ve recorded just 1 win out of 4 in their pre-season campaign, heading into the season on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Mainz. Nevertheless, Kompany`s side lost just 1 out of 23 Championship games at home last season and might put up a fight to the treble winners.

The Treble winners are back in the EPL, after a Community Shield defeat to Arsenal. The Citizens are most likely to open the season with a bang, having beaten Burnley in 11 consecutive fixtures in all competitions. Their last defeat at Turf Moor was back in 2015, and their last 2 trips to Lancashire both ended 2-0. Burnley are likely to be doing damage control on Friday night, therefore, we expect Manchester City to win and under 2.5 goals. BET HERE

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Pochettino makes his Stamford Bridge debut with an enormous challenge. The Blues seem to have found their scoring form, having netted 13 in their 5 pre-season games, and it is difficult to predict how Liverpool will handle their new attack-minded play. Although Chelsea finished mid-table last season, we expect a brand-new side to be on display on Sunday.

Liverpool have been ruthless and terrifying in attack in the pre-season campaign, although questionable at the back, having scored 18 in 5, although conceded 11, with little time left for Klopp to amend the mistakes. Their last 2 meetings ended in 0-0 last season, totalling the run of draws between the 2 sides to 6 consecutive games. However, considering Chelsea`s changes and both sides` incredible attacks, we expect both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. BET HERE

Manchester United vs Wolverhampton

The Red Devils had a mixed pre-season, having given many youth players their chances. Their last ‘1st team’ game ended 3-1 at Old Trafford, and the Manchester side showed threatening attacking abilities (although a lack of a no. 9 is evident). Ten Hag made Old Trafford a fortress last season, and we are likely to see a strong performance from United in front of the home fans.

Wolves parted ways with Lopetegui just several days before EPL return, having played a great pre-season with 3 wins and 2 draws. Wolverhampton certainly know how to slow United down, with 3 of their last 4 meetings decided by just 1 goal. Their last trip to Old Trafford ended in a 2-0 defeat, and Ten Hag is unlikely to let the record change. We still expect a tight game here, with under 2.5 goals, although Man United to win.
