Olimp3kSignUp jan19The next round of Formula 1 action comes from Shanghai on Sunday 14th April and Couch Critic takes a look at the betting and provides his best bets.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE LAST RACE?

It should have been a case of one for you and one for me but instead after dominating the weekend Ferrari experienced troubles on race day and now find themselves chasing the silver arrows as F1 moves to China.

Charles Leclerc was super-fast all weekend in the dessert and all eyes will be on the youngster to see if he will be able to constantly replicate that form elsewhere.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN CHINA

Mercedes have reigned supreme in four of the last five races in Shanghai, with three of those being delivered by Lewis Hamilton. The Brit clearly enjoys this track, as does his car, but will his track form be superior to the racing form which the Ferrari’s have experienced early season? We know that certain tracks suit certain cars better but given the margin with which the Italians dominated in terms of top end speed one wonders whether this can truly be overcome irrespective of how comfortable the drivers are with a specific layout.

VERDICT

We got very lucky with Hamilton sneaking in for a victory after Leclerc’s misfortune. I realise the Mercs have been supreme in Shanghai but I don’t see them able to overcome the pace advantage that scarlet reds have at this early stage of the season. Furthermore, SebVettel will be feeling the heat from his rookie partner and will be charged up to show that he is still the big dog in the Ferrari garage. I’m backing Vettel to get the job done on Sunday but the raw pace of Clerc can’t be discounted and thus the following betting strategy from me.
