Couch Critic previews the NRL Week 18 matches taking place on the 16th and 17th July including his best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA
The Maroons were finally able to steal one back from the mighty Blues this week but it’s the NRL where my focus is at for this weekend. Let’s have a look at the first half of games for the weekend. Amid COVID issues all games have been moved to Queensland at this stage.
TITANS vs EELS – Fri 16 July @ 10:00, Gold Coast
Both teams had the luxury of a bye last week but it’s the Titans who will have some good confidence after handing out a thrashing to the Raiders in Round 16. The Eels lose Junior Paulo for this one but welcome back David Fifita from suspension.
The Titans have blown hot and cold so a confident call is tough for this clash. The exotics is where my focus will be.
SEA EAGLES vs DRAGONS – Fri 16 Jul @ 11:55, Gold Coast
This really should be a no-brainer but I fear Tommy T being given a post-Origins break this weekend. The Dragons all of sudden have three wins from their last four outings but two of those were narrow escapes against the Warriors and Raiders. Prior to their Round 17 Raiders slip-up Manly had put 50+ past the Titans, Bulldogs and Cowboys. If Trbojevic and Cherry-Evans both miss out at short notice then steer clear but if they take to the paddock get onboard a big Eagles display against a Duffty-less Dragons outfit.
RAIDERS vs SHARKS – Sat 17 Jul @ 07:00, Gold Coast
A big loss to the Titans a fortnight ago has me concerned that these Raiders aren’t ready to be backed. Despite being toothless in defeat to the Broncos in Round 16 and just about getting past the struggling Cowboys I still have faith in this Sharks outfit. With Shaun Johnson calling the shots and some dangerous outside backs at his disposal I don’t see Canberra coming away from this one unscathed.
COWBOYS vs ROOSTERS – Sat 17 Jul @ 09:30, Townsville
It’s been four straight losses for the men from North Queensland. The Roosters are far from that ruthless outfit we’ve come to know over the past few seasons but they should still fancy their chances of finding their attacking groove against the struggling Cowboys.

Again I am keeping the faith in the boys with the fins to start the weekend swimmingly with victory over Canberra.
