SpringboksCoachCouch Critic previews Tuesday's Rugby World Cup Pool B clash between South Africa and Canada with best bets from @Olimp_SA

There are still some murmurs around the form of Willie le Roux, question marks with regard to the blend of kicking versus attacking play as well as some very unnecessary political issues at present. But at the end of the day the Springboks beat Italy by 7 tries to zero. Many were building up Italy as a potential threat to the Boks but behind a dominant set piece they had little trouble in getting the job done. Here’s what I expect from South Africa v Canada on Tuesday on the betting front.

South Africa vs Canada, Tuesday 08 October @ 12:15 (Kobe City)

What you need to know

Rassie has reverted back to his B team for this last group stage game but on this occasion it’s not his usual second stringers that have played together on a number of occasions. Thomas du Toit, Schalk Brits and Vincent Koch make up the new front row whilst there are plenty of changes at the back. Damian de Allende shifts one out and Gelant gets wing duty with the other Damian brought in to cover fullback.

Canada conceded 48 against Italy and let in 63 against New Zealand (despite not a single point being scored in the last 20 minutes). Few will be expecting anything less than the green and gold putting 50 past the North Americans in Kobe. The Canadians only have a four-day break after this match before facing Namibia in what will surely be their one and only shot at winning a game at this Rugby World Cup. The Maple Leaves have made a few changes but stalwarts like Tyler Ardron, DTH van der Merwe and Peter Nelson remain in the line-up.

How I see it panning out

This is more of a make-shift Boks team than we’ve seen before. At the same time Italy were able to comfortably put the boot into these opponents and one also has to think that Canada will already have one eye on their “decider” against Namibia on Sunday. Big handicaps haven’t often arrived at this World Cup but I think this one might have a chance when the Canadians opt to spare the horses in the second forty. But before that I reckon Canada will push them for the first half so the Half time plus handicap could be good bet. But I will focus on the points market as conditions have really made scoring tough in the hot and humid conditions under the closed roof.

On the exotic front Kwagga is handed the number 7 jumper and plays in combination with Kolisi and Francois Louw. For mind this means the dynamic loosie will get the opportunity to play a loser game, thus he has to have a very good chance of getting on the scoresheet. S’bu Nkosi hasn’t been able to sink his teeth into the tournament just yet and I reckon he will be chomping at the bit to put in a sizzling performance against the Canadians. Lastly, Marx deliver for us against Italy and at these odds I have to have another go on the robust hooker.

Betolimp Best Bet: Total points – Under 62.5 @ 1.84

Special Play 1: Anytime Tryscorer – Kwagga Smith @ 1.66

Special Play 2: To score two tries or more – Nkosi @ 2.20

Special Play 3: Last Tryscorer – Malcolm Marx @ 11.00
