Three months down the line we have thinned the 15 contenders into eight. But from here in we drop the dead wood very quickly. Last weekend the Bulls, Highlanders and Jags were the confident calls which all came home. The Blues also delivered the half time win whilst a nice cherry on the cake was the dramatic Sharks finish ensuring the HT/FT Stormers/Sharks paying out a nice little profit. The last two weeks have treated us really well and it would be great finishing the tournament with a bang. I would however warn against going too big on these knockout clashes.

Crusaders vs Highlanders (Friday @ 09:35)

Teams coming back from a bye week have often struggled, however the Chiefs showed against the Rebels that it need not be to your complete detriment. The Highlanders picked up an impressive victory in Invercargill and will be boosted by the return of Ben Smith. However the Crusaders are well rested and probably have their strongest team of the season doing duty on Friday.

Verdict: The Landers should push the hosts for the first forty to 60 minutes but this Crusaders team just has too much class to come unstuck at this stage of the comp.

BETOLIMP Special Bet: Highlanders points under 18.5 @ 1.90

BETOLIMP Special Bet: Crusaders to lead by 1-8 at half time/Saders to win by 13+ @ 7.40

Jaguares vs Chiefs (Saturday @ 00:05)

Two in-form teams meet in Buenos Aires for this clash. The Chiefs have finished the Super Rugby marathon with a mad dash for home. The Chiefs are certainly capable of pulling off the victory on their day but this Jags team means business in 2019.

Verdict: The Jaguares have had a stellar second half of the tournament and I don’t see the Chiefs stopping them in Argentina.

Best Bet: Jaguares to lead at halftime and fulltime – Jaguares/Jaguares @ 2.10

BETOLIMP Special Bet: Jaguares to lead by 1-8 at half time/Jags to win by 1-12 @ 9.00

BETOLIMP Special Bet: Lasttryscorer – Julian Montoya @33.00

Hurricanes vs Bulls (Saturday @ 09:35)

If there is one team that can pull of an “upset” over one of the top four teams it has to be the Bulls. The men from Pretoria have had an up and down season but when at their best there are few that can match them. The only issue is that one is not sure which Bulls team will pitch up on the day. The Hurricanes are a team who can get dominated for the better part of an hour yet still have enough fire power to win the game off the few chances that come their way.

Verdict: The handicap is well set for this one and just a speculative play for me here.

Best bet: Bulls to lead at half time but lose the game – Bulls/Hurricanes @ 5.03

BETOLIMP Special Bet: Anytime tryscorer – ArdieSavea @ 3.70

Brumbies vs Sharks (Saturday @ 12:05)

Many will have you believing that the Sharks have a realistic chance of pulling off the upset. Yes, they have probably performed better away from home, but I reckon the “cockroaches” will have more ammunition against the coach by the end of this game. Rod du Preez’s side will have a tough task trying to overcome a well structured and tactically sound Brumbies side in Canberra.

Verdict: Despite their last-ditch win over the Stormers, the Sharks have offered little on attack and needs to be opposed accordingly.

Best bet: Brumbies to win by more than 14 points @ 3.42 with BETOLIMP

One additional punt:

Jaguares to win Super Rugby @ 9.31 with BETOLIMP
