Olimp3kSignUp jan19Couch Critic previews the betting for the Indian Premier League matches taking place on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th April

MUMBAI vs CSK (Wednesday, 03 April – 16:30)

Setting the Scene: Two of the big boys meet in this one at the Wankede. Mumbai have experienced their usual slow start whilst the defending champs have come racing out of the gates in 2019.

Let’s Talk Tactics: In the only game hosted in Mumbai thus far the home side leaked 200-plus against Delhi. From that game the spinners played less of a role than some of the other pitches.

At the last time of asking Sharma and De Kock got the Indians off to a great start but after that there was little support from the rest of the line-up. They will be concerned with the lack of impact from internationals, McClenaghan and Pollard.

Dhoni rolled back the years against the Royals and now everyone in their top order has put in at least one solid showing with the bat, the form of Rayudu their only concern in this regard. With the ball Deepak Chahar has backed up the success of the spinners with aplomb.

Verdict: CSK have had great success with their spinners leading their charge but for mind Chahar has been their unsung hero and will look to back him in the betting as well. Watson, Raina and Dhoni are all capable six hitters whilst QdK, Sharma, Yuvi and Hardik can all pitch in for the home side – nothing really stands out in this regard but should you fancy Watson to fail then Mumbai have a good shot of hitting more maximums. Mumbai might be a far cry from the rank turner in Chennai but Markande has added a different string to the Indians’ bow since his inclusion. Lastly we have to roll with the form of Dhoni and at a big price I’ll have a nibble on him to hit the most sixes.

Bets:

D Chahar top CSK Bowler @ 5.50

Markande top Mumbai Bowler @ 5.50

Player to hit most sixes – Dhoni @ 11.40

DELHI vs SUNRISERS (Thursday, 04 April – 16:30)

Setting the Scene: They have two somewhat controversial individuals at the top of the order but these lads have led the Sunrisers to two straight victories. Delhi somehow contrived to chuck a game away which seemed destined to be the easiest of victories needing a run-a-ball 23 with seven sticks in hand and will have to shake this choke off as soon as possible.

Let’s Talk Tactics: SRH have relied on the explosive batting of Warner and Bairstow but apart from them there is no real way of knowing how the rest will perform should they be required. With the ball Rashid has been his normal self but Buvi has disappointed thus far. Delhi on the other hand have had a variety of contributors with the bat. Rabada and Lamichhane have starred for the Capitals with the ball.

Verdict: Delhi have punched above their weight thus far as they have gelled together well. Their only concern has been with the lower order finishing of games and the issue of a long tail. The openers surely can’t keep going for SRH but in terms of boundary hitters Yusuf Pathan and Shankar are also capable. On the side of Delhi Shaw, Pant, Ingram and Morris are all guys who dish out frequent flyer miles. With a number of lefties in the Delhi line-up I’ll go with the off break of Nabi to do well.

Bets:

Total match Sixes over 13.5 @ 2.10

Nabi top Sunrisers Bowler @ 5.50

Chris Morris Man of Match @ 20.00
