LEICESTER VS TOTTENHAM, SATURDAY @ 13.30

Leicester play host to Tottenham on Saturday afternoon on the back of suffering their first defeat of the season away to Manchester United. Spurs return to domestic action after drawing away against Olympiacos in the Champions League. Leicester hasn’t started their home campaign that great, recording only one win against Bournemouth who never seem to get results on the road. Tottenham completely outplayed Crystal Palace last weekend, but struggled in Greece midweek and some say they were lucky to get a point from that game. Coming into Saturday, Tottenham has beaten Leicester the last 3 times these sides played each other, but have failed to win in their last 8 games on the road in the Premier League. The Foxes always lift their game when a big club comes to visit the King Power and with Spurs involved in European action they will see this as an opportunity to cause an upset.

LEICESTER:

Followers of the Premier League expected Leicester to cause a potential upset away to Manchester United, but the Foxes struggled to get on the front foot and didn’t create any good chances for the likes of Vardy. Out of a chasing pack containing several clubs, Leicester is the most fancied to break into the established top 6, with Wolves and Everton going off the rails early in the season. Brendan Rodgers will know that last week’s performance was below par and improvement is vital if they want to achieve their goals. We haven’t seen a dominant performance by the Foxes thus far. Leicester’s xGf is 1.11 and xGa 0.83, showing that their games have been less than entertaining and grinding out results. Rodgers has no new injury concerns and will most likely stick to the same team from last weekend.

TOTTENHAM:

Despite being regarded as the best of the rest behind Manchester City and Liverpool, Tottenham has a lot of work to do if they want to reach the heights of last season. Pochettino’s team has been lucky in games this season, especially against Manchester City and Arsenal, but results matter more than performances. The manager was disappointed by his players in midweek and told the media that they didn’t follow the plan he set out. Tottenham’s performances this season have been underwhelming and they have lacked the clinical instinct in key situations. Pochettino has the ability to turn things around at the club and get the players on board once again for another dominant run in the league. Spurs xGf is 1.49 and xGa 1.59, showing they have been very lucky to get results so far and that they have scored more than they should have and conceded less than what is expected. Even though they have been under performing, Tottenham remain involved at the top of the table and improvement will be a given.

PREDICTION:

This is my only goals bet this weekend, as I expect both teams will come out firing. Leicester will want to claim a victory against a top 6 opponent and Tottenham will want to establish a solid run while keeping Liverpool and Manchester City in their sights. Tottenham always seems to score goals at Leicester and team playing in the Champions League always seem to struggle on the weekends. I predict both teams to score here and that we will see 3+ goals. This should be an open game kicking off the action on Saturday lunchtime.
