Olimp3kSignUp jan19So, City have finally emerged above Liverpool in the race for the title at the top, whilst we seem to be set for a battle royal for the top four positions. Sunday (and one Saturday) sees some tantalising clashes in the English Premier League.

LIVING ON A PRAYER

City have finally done what everyone was expecting them to do for the last month or so – claim back top spot on the Premier League Table. The slight Liverpool wobble will mean little if the new table toppers can’t get the job done over “lesser” opponents in the coming weeks. The Citizens could definitely have asked for easier opponents than 8th placed Watford, but at the Etihad the visitors should have nothing less than a hope and a prayer unless the men in blue are somehow not focussed on the job at hand.

FEEL THE BURN

They may have tripped Tottenham up at home but subsequent losses to Newcastle and Crystal Palace point to a team that shouldn’t hold much of a threat for the title contenders. Anfield has been a fortress for the Reds this season and it should be business as usual for Klopp’s chargers in dismissing Burnley.

WHEN THE WOLVES COME HOWLING

Wolves might be the best of the rest (after the top 6) but there is a big gap between the A-listers and the B level pretenders. Chelsea have proven a complex team to call right but recent results include an away win over Fulham and a vital victory over Tottenham at The Bridge. Chelsea need to keep the foot on the pedal to keep them in good shape for a Top4 finish.

WILL THE DEVILS BE BANISHED AT EMIRATES?

Apart from a slip-up at home to PSG, United have been the form team of the 2019 calendar year. Even a few injury blows have not been able to cripple their expressive style of play under Solskjaer. This promises to be a tussle not to be missed as The Gunners have hardly been firing blanks themselves – their 19 goals the second best in the period since 1 Jan 2019 (second only to Man City). I’m expecting goals in this one, with attacking stars such as Pogba and Rashford going toe-to-toe with the likes of Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang.
