The next round of Formula 1 action comes from Baku, Azerbaijan on Sunday 28th April and Couch Critic takes a look at the betting and provides his best bets.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE LAST RACE?

This season has been crazy as Mercedes made it a hat-trick of one-two’s as Hamilton took the win ahead of Botas in China.This came despite the fact that most were of the opinion that the Ferrari’s were still the fastest car in 2019 gaze. Max Verstappen in his Red Bull remains just a step behind Ferrari and McLaren. Danni Ric found some much needed pace to claim his first top 10 of the season in China.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN AZERBAIJAN

Azerbaijan is still relatively new to the F1 circuit. The Baku track has a street circuit feel to it and the McLaren’s have proven they enjoy the track as a rule, though it was Bottas who had the edge over Lewis last time out despite the Brit getting the win in the end. Hamilton has claimed two straight victories but he did so by burning Bottas from the start line in China and winning by default over Leclerc in Bahrain. The defending champ is a class act but it seems his team mate has made up some ground on him in the off season.

Charles Leclerc has enjoyed success at Baku in other formats and as a Monaco native it makes sense that a street circuit should suit him better than most. Team mate Vettel will remain under pressure to turn his early struggles around sooner rather than later. The German hasn’t quite looked at his sharpest and I struggle to see him break the confidence of his junior this weekend.

VERDICT

Valtteri has shown that he has come into the 2019 season in top form. The Mercs should continue to go well here and I expect the Finn to deliver the victory this weekend. I am also sticking with the youngster in the Ferrari to upstage his more illustrious team mate on a track that suits him like a glove.
