The Champions League gets going this week and we select 3 of Tuesday’s matches to have a bet on.
Let’s start with a look at the Champions League Outright Betting where Paris Saint-Germain are the 16/5 favourites ahead of Manchester City at 73/20, Bayern Munich, the German giants are 7/1 and you can get 29/4 Chelsea and 37/4 Liverpool. Manchester United are priced at 19/2 with Real Madrid 14/1 and you can get 21/1 about Barcelona and 22/1 and better the balance.

YOUNG BOYS BERN v MANCHESTER UNITED
Young Boys Bern came through the qualification stages, most recently saw off Ferencvaros, winning both legs 3-2 and although I haven't seen this team play, their playoff record suggests plenty of goals and they are coming off a 4-0 victory over Zurich in the League this past weekend.
Manchester United were automatic qualifiers and they also found their scoring boots on the weekend beating Newcastle 4-1 at home and they have taken 10 points from a possible 12 in the League. It will be important for Manchester United to start off with a victory here as this is not an easy group with Villarreal and Atalanta the other Group F teams.

I am basing this on the fact that Young Boys Bern seem to be involved in high scoring fixtures and you would think that they are going to concede a few against Manchester United and hopefully find the back of the net themselves.
BARCELONA v BAYERN MUNICH
This is a Group E clash and the other teams in the group are Benfica and Dynamo Kiev. It is certainly surprising to see Barcelona at 20/1 to win the competition, but they have lost a number of key players. They have started well enough in the League with 7 points from their first 9 and beat Getafe 2-1 in their last match at the end of August.
Bayern Munich have scored 9 goals and conceded just 1 in their last 2 League games, most recently beating RB Leipzig 4-1 on the road.
These sides met in Champions League in the 2019/20 season when eventual champions Bayern Munich won an incredible game 8-2.

Bayern Munich should be too strong for Barcelona and while I wouldn’t discount the Spanish giants getting a point, I am expecting the Germans to get their campaign off to a winning start.
CHELSEA v ZENIT
This is a Group H clash and other teams in the group are Juventus and Malmo.
Chelsea has looked very impressive in the League and have only dropped 2 points in their opening 4 games. They beat Aston Villa 3-0 at home on the weekend and prior to that drew 1-1 on the road with Liverpool, a result made more impressive that they were down to 10 men for a long period of the game.
Zenit Saint-Petersburg have been playing League football since late July and they have won 5 and drawn 2 of their 7 matches and on the weekend were 3-1 victors at home.

Chelsea are short price favourites for this so there is not a lot of value in the Outright Markets. I did consider a handicap bet at (-1) Chelsea, but 6/10 is still a bit short for me and I will go with a speculative 3-0 Correct Score Line.
