WSB Logo Orange 80x80We take a look at five of the EFL Cup matches taking place on Wednesday night and suggest a bet in each of them.

Let’s start with a look at the latest Outright Betting where Liverpool are trading as 7/2 favourites to lift the cup.

WEST HAM v ARSENAL – Click here to bet

West Ham beat Lincoln 1-0 on the road in the Round of 32 in a game where they started 4/10 favourites. They have been in some wobbly form of late and have lost 3 matches on the trot across all competitions.

Arsenal played fellow EPL side, Brentford away from home in their Round of 32 fixture winning 1-0. They took the lead in the 8th minute and held on for the win.

Arsenal are the 12/10 favourites with West Ham priced at 23/10, but a look at recent history between these sides has me leaning towards the goals markets.

Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 9/10

BOURNEMOUTH v LIVERPOOL – Click here to bet

Bournemouth beat Swansea 3-2 on the road in their Round of 62 clash before they beat Stoke 2-0 at home last time out. They beat Burnley 2-1 in the League on the weekend to break a 3 match losing run in the English Premier League.

Liverpool have only played 1 match so far and that was a 3-1 home victory over Leicester, a game they were priced as 4/10 favourites. They have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 matches across all competitions.

Liverpool are too short for me to back at 8/15, but this looks like another game where the goals could flow.

Suggested Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 29/20

CHELSEA v BLACKBURN – Click here to bet

Chelsea opened their campaign with a 2-1 home win over Wimbledon and followed it up with a 1-0 win over Brighton. They were at home to Brentford in the League on the weekend losing 2-0.

Blackburn play their 4th match of the competition having beaten Walsall at home, Harrogate away (8-0) and Cardiff 5-2 at home in their last start. Blackburn suffered a defeat in the Championship 1-0 to Swansea at home on the weekend and that broke a 3 match winning streak.

Chelsea are 2/9 favourites with Blackburn 12/1 and the draw priced at 6/1, but I think Blackburn could be well up for this and possibly cause an upset. I am going to back them to lose by no more than a goal.

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Blackburn +1.5 goals at 13/10

EVERTON v BURNLEY – Click here to bet

Everton have had 2-1 victories in both of their matches so far and both came on the road against Doncaster and Aston Villa. They got a match needed League win on the weekend beating West Ham 1-0 on the road.

Burnley have also been on the road in their two fixtures, winning 1-0 at Nottingham and 4-0 at Salford. They have lost 3 successive League games.

Everton have shown signs of turning their season around and I think they can beat a struggling Burnley ide.

Suggested Bet: Everton win at 17/20

MANCHESTER UNITED v NEWCASTLE – Click here to bet

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at home in the Round of 32 and they saw a 3 match winning streak across all competitions ended when they lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City on the weekend.

Newcastle knocked Manchester City out of the EFL Cup winning 1-0 at home to book their spot in the last 16. They were 17/20 favourites to beat Wolves away in the League away on the weekend, but could only manage a 2-2 draw.

Manchester United are the 23/20 favourites here, but they look like a team really battling and I am backing Newcastle to get the win on the road.

Suggested Bet: Newcastle win at 12/5
