BettingDiaryThere is Monday night English Premier League action for punters to get involved in and we take a look at the big clash between Manchester United and Liverpool from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the English Premier League Outright Betting where Manchester City remain firm favourites at 4/10, Liverpool are 4/1, Arsenal have shortened from 15/1 to 12/1 and Tottenham Hotspur are 14/1, Chelsea are on the drift now to 20/1 and you can get 100/1 about Manchester United and 115/1 and better balance.

Manchester United sit second from bottom of the table and actually moved up from the bottom of the table thanks to West Ham suffering a 3rd consecutive loss. United like West Ham are still to score a point this season and they have played two matches scoring 1 goal and conceding 6. Last time out they were hammered 4-0 on the road at Brentford and they lost their opener 2-1 at home to Brighton.

Liverpool have got off to a sluggish start with 2 draws including last time out a 1-1 result at home to Crystal Palace, a game where they went behind early before coming back to equalise only to go down to 10 men. In their opening match Liverpool also had to come from behind to draw 2-2 away at Fulham.

Liverpool were dominate against Manchester United last season winning this fixture 5-0 and the home fixture at Anfield 4-0. In their last 3 League games against Manchester United they scored 13 goals while conceding 2, but prior to last season’s victory at Old Trafford these sides had drawn 3 in a row when Manchester United have hosted in the League.

Manchester United 15/4

Draw 7/2

Liverpool 13/20

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Manchester United +0.5 goals at 13/10

For this bet to land we need Manchester United to either win or draw the match. What makes this bet particularly attractive this week is the Promotion offered by World Sports Betting that any 90 minutes bet placed on the game will see your bets refunded in the form of Free Bets if it loses and Manchester United finish the round bottom of the Premier League.

Now a quick look at the League shows they are on exactly the same goal difference as West Ham, but currently sit above them by virtue of having scored 1 extra goal. If they lose this game though they are going to finish the round bottom so backing them on the handicap here is effectively a risk free bet in that if Liverpool win the game, United will be bottom of the log and the bet will be refunded. Please note that T&C’s do apply.

For the record I am not convinced that we are going to get the high scoring encounter that the bookmakers are expecting with over 2.5 goals priced at 5/10. Manchester United’s defence has looked awful this season, but I am expecting them to tighten up and take on a more defensive approach against a Liverpool side they know will be forced to come at them.
