BettingDiaryThe English Premier League returns this week and just as well as there is no International Rugby to bet on. We take a look at some of the options for punters in our Weekend Diary.

FOOTBALL

Table toppers, Liverpool, are first in action after the International break and they host Newcastle who currently sit 14th on the table, a full 8 points behind them after just 4 matches. Liverpool have beaten Arsenal and Norwich at home this season and while Newcastle lost away to Norwich they did stun Tottenham 1-0 away in their last road trip.

Liverpool won this fixture 4-0 last season and there were 9 goals across the two games played in the League between these sides, that has us leaning towards over 3.5 goals at even money.

Also on Saturday 8th placed Manchester United take on 3rd place Leicester with United only having taken 2 points from the last 9 they have played for. United have a very strong home record against the Leicester, but we think the visitors will get at least a point out of this one and will take 11/4 about the draw.

Sunday’s featured match sees bottom of the table Watford take on 5th placed Arsenal. We were a bit surprised to see there hasn’t been a lot of goals in recent matches between the sides, but we expect that to change this week with over 3.5 goals priced at 14/10.

Locally we have 5 PSL matches to look forward to with high flying Kaizer Chiefs at home to Polokwane City where they are priced at 21/20 for the win.

The match of the weekend though is Saturday nights clash between SuperSport and Cape Town City with SuperSport narrow favourites at 14/10, Cape Town City 23/10 and the draw which we fancy on offer at 19/10.

RUGBY

There is not a lot of rugby for punters to get involved in this weekend, but we do have a Mitre 10 Cup and betting on all of the matches is available here.

We will have plenty of World Cup coverage in our Diaries next week and for the latest outright betting markets you can click here.

CRICKET

The 5th Ashes Test continues over the weekend, but Proteas fans will be looking ahead to Sunday when India and South Africa clash in the first T20.

The home side India are firm favourites at 5/10 with the Proteas on offer at 16/10 and as usual there are a range of markets including player to score the most sixes where we fancy a nibble on David Miller at 9/1.

MOTOGP

The San Marino MotoGP takes place on Sunday and Andrea Dovizioso will be looking to follow up on last year’s win, standing in his way is current World Champion and runaway leader Marc Marquez who has won this race twice in the last 4 years.

There will be a host of MotoGP markets available come Sunday, but at this point we do feel Dovizioso could be worth a nibble at a current price of 15/4.

CYCLING

The Vuelta a Espana concludes this weekend with a mountain stage on Saturday set to determine the final GC standings. Sunday’s stage is a sprint around Madrid and you will be able to get betting on the stages as well as the General Classifications at this link.

HORSE RACING

There are three local Horse Racing meetings this weekend with Turffontein and Durbanville on Saturday and Scottsville on Sunday.

The 9 race Turffontein card gets going at 12h35 with the final leg of the Pick Six scheduled at 17h22. Our best bet on the card is in Race 8 over 1400 metres where we fancy current favourite, Queen Supreme at a price of 12/10.

In Durbanville Race 8, a sprint over a 1000 metres looks a competitive affair and we have a sneaky feeling that the Joey Ramsden trained Fours A Crowd will go well at 9/2.

Then onto Sunday where we fancy Galway Girl at 5/2 in the last at Scottsville in what looks a competitive race over 1600 metres.
