BettingDiaryThe Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois is the host of this weeks BMW Championship where the Top 70 players in the FedEx Cup rankings do battle and the Top 30 will advance to the Tour Championship next week.

Olympia Fields plays to a Par 70 and there is no recent course form to go on and although it is a Par 70 it plays very long. Distance will as always be an advantage but for this course accuracy off the tee should also be important as the fairways are fairly narrow and the rough can be punishing.

Dustin Johnson was an emphatic winner last week and he lines up as favourite here at 8/1 ahead of Jon Rahm 10/1 with Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau 14/1 and you can get 16/1 and better the balance.

Past Winners (different courses)

2018 – Keegan Bradley -20*

2017 – Marc Leishman - 23

Selections:

Dustin Johnson each way at 8/1

Dustin Johnson won the BMW Championship in 2016, all be it at a different course. The reason for including him this week is quite simple, he was absolutely on fire at the Northern Trust last week and even though he is quoted in single figures this week I just have to have him on side and if he is playing anything like the level we saw over the weekend, he will be right there come Sunday.

Daniel Berger each way at 22/1

Berger has been in excellent form and last week bagged a Top 3 finish, his 3rd Top 15 in succession and his second Top 3 in his last 3 starts. He has the game to go well at this course and in the end for me it was a choice between him and Morikawa and I have decided to side with Berger. If you are reading this you may well be advised to get a bet down on Morikawa who is also 22/1.

Louis Oosthuizen each way at 60/1

There are just signs that Oosthuizen’s game is coming to hand and last week he finished in the Top 15 and he has a Top 10 to his credit 3 events ago. Oosthuizen should be well suited to the course and here is hoping he can break South African’s lean run on the PGA Tour.

Russell Henley each way at 80/1

Henley is coming off back to back Top 10 finishes and I must admit to getting excited when scanning down the betting for him and not finding him, I was hoping I might get somewhere around 200/1, but the bookmakers are shrewder than that and his price is 80/1 which given his current form and solid temperament I am happy to take.
