The Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth Texas is the host course for the Charles Schwab Challenge. We select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
The Colonial Country Club is a par 70 layout and will provide a very different challenge to what the players experienced at the PGA. This course requires players to plot their way around with positioning of tee shots far more important than distance.
Greens in Regulations is always an important stat at the Colonial so look out for players with a great approach shot game.
US Masters champion Scottie Scheffler will be looking to bounce back from last weeks missed cut and he tops the betting boards at 12/1 alongside PGA champion Justin Thomas and past champion Jordan Spieth.

SELECTIONS:
Jordan Spieth each way at 12/1
Of the top 3 in the betting I like the chances of Jordan Spieth this week. He has excellent course form and was runner-up last year, his 4th Top 2 finish here in the last 8 years. Spieth was a bit off last week finishing outside the Top 30, but prior to that he did have a runner-up finish and a victory so carries strong form into this event in his home state.
The reason I prefer him to the other two favourites is Scheffler looked a bit off colour last week and Thomas may well feel the effects of that magnificent Sunday battle for the PGA Championship.
Abraham Ancer each way at 35/1
Ancer faded a bit in the final round of the PGA Championship to finish 9th, but he showed enough over the course of the 4 days to suggest he is in excellent form. Ancer also had a good record on this track with 2 successive Top 15 finishes and if he can hold last week’s form I fancy him to go close.
Jason Kokrak each way at 40/1
Kokrak is the defending Champion and that came on the back of a Top 3 finish the previous year. He didn’t get into the mixer last week finishing 60th, but prior to that had a Top 20 finish and his game is certainly not in a bad place heading to a course that he absolutely loves.
Brian Harman each way at 55/1
I am sticking with a course form theme and Harman had some solid results at the Colonial including a Top 10 finish last year, his 3rd Top 10 in 7 starts during which time he has finished no worse than 31st. Harman finished 34th in last week’s PGA, but what caught my eye was his fast start to the final round suggesting his game is in good shape and prior to the PGA his previous finish was a Top 10.
