BettingDiaryOur featured Golf event this week is The Farmers Insurance Open taking place at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.

Torrey Pines is a course with plenty of history attached to it and this week the players will play the North and the South Course in the first 2 Rounds before finishing the 3rd and 4th Rounds off on the South Course. The South Course is also the venue for the US Open later this year.

There is not really a single key factor to victory this week, but driving distance is important and it is stating the obvious that so of course is a hot putter.

Jon Rahm tops the betting boards at 15/2 ahead of Rory Mcilroy, who returns from Dubai, at 10/1, Schauffele is 15/1 and you can get 22/1 and better the balance. I am going to oppose the top 3 in the betting this week and will look a bit further down the betting boards for my interest.

SELECTIONS:

Tony Finau each way at 22/1

Finau is proving a bit of a frustration to follow as he battles to bag his second PGA Tour title. He challenged last week and he is in good form and hasn’t finished outside the Top 25 in this event in the last 6 years with 3 Top 10’s in that time. Finau is knocking on the door and this week let’s hope it opens for him.

Marc Leishman each way at 45/1

Given that he is the defending Champion, Leishman seems a very attractive price this week especially given he seems to be coming into form with a Top 25 and a Top 5 finish in his last two starts. Prior to that win he had solid course form here with a couple of Top 10’s and a Top 25 mixed in with some poorer results.

Jason Day each way at 45/1

Day has been lightly raced and makes his first start of the year, but he has some excellent course form here with two victories, runner-up finish and a Top 5 in the last 6 years. Last year he finished 16th.

Snedeker each way at 150/1 and Perez each way at 300/1

I am grouping these together as I am going in with very small stakes on these two, but my money shifted more towards places than the win. Neither are in great nick at the moment, but both have excellent course form and could just come good this week.
