BettingDiaryThe FedEx Cup series kicks off on Thursday with the Northern Trust Open taking place at the TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts.

The TPC Boston is a par 71 and while hosting this event for the first time it has previously been used to host the Dell Technologies Championship. Length off the tee will certainly be an advantage, but it is a course which rewards good all round play so there should be plenty of players in with a chance this week.

Past winner at the course, Bryson Dechambeau is 12/1, joint favourite with Justin Thomas at the time of writing with Jon Rahm and Rory Mcilroy 14/1, you can get 20/1 Dustin Johnson and 22/1 and better the balance.

Selections:

Patrick Reed each way at 28/1

Reed is a popular pick amongst golf tipsters this week and it is not surprising giving he has won this Tournament twice and is the defending Champion all be it, it was played at a difference course. He is running into some handy form though with a Top 15 finish at the PGA and a Top 10 at the Wyndham and Reed certainly ticks a lot of boxes this week. Reed also has 2 Top 5’s and a Top 10 finish here in 3 of his last 4 visits to this course.

Collin Morikawa each way at 22/1

Morikawa is coming off a week’s break having won the PGA Championship in brilliant style. He makes his debut at this course, but has the all round game to contend and he certainly looks like a level headed player who won’t get carried away with his first Major win.

Tony Finau each way at 28/1

Finau finished Top 5 here 2 years ago when this course was last used on Tour and he was also Top 5 in the PGA Championship two weeks ago and has been very consistent of late. One problem with Finau is that he doesn’t seem to win enough, but he is putting himself in position to do so and it is only a matter of time before he gets across the line.

Phil Mickelson each way at 125/1

After picking 3 players below 30/1 I couldn’t very well come in with a 4th selection at that price and looking further down the boards and here Phil Mickelson catches the eye. He has a good record at this course and his last 2 visits here have seen a Top 10 and a Top 15 finish. He faded in the PGA to finish outside the Top 70, but was coming off a runner-up finish the week before that and he could be worth chancing at a triple figure price.
