BettingDiaryThe PGA Tour stops off in Mississippi this week for the Sanderson Farms Championship taking place at the Country Club of Jackson. We look at the event from a betting angle.

The field for the Sanderson Farms Championship is certainly missing the big names, but that doesn’t mean that there are no betting opportunities.

Let’s start with a look at the course, the par 72 Country Club of Jackson. The greens can be quite tricky and length off the tee is not necessarily a pre-requisite for victory here. More important is finding Greens in Regulation and having a hot putter as the winning score is generally around the (-20) mark so you will need to be sinking plenty of birdie putts to win.

Scottie Scheffler heads the betting at 11/1 ahead of Sungjae Im 12/1 and Will Zalatoris at 22/1 and you can get 33/1 and better the balance.

Selections:

Scottie Scheffler each way at 11/1

Scheffler returns to action having had to pull out of the US Open due to a positive COVID-19 test. Prior to that he was in cracking form with 3 Top 5’s in his previous 4 starts and last year he finished 16th in this event.

Doc Redman each way at 33/1

Redman has only played this course once before and it was last year where he finished just outside the Top 50, but it is not his course form that is attracting me to him, but rather his recent form which has seen him finish in the Top 5 in two of his last three starts. His game should be perfect for this course and I expect Redman to be right there come back 9 on Sunday.

Lucas Glover each way at 66/1

It has been a while since we have seen this former major winner at his best, but he has shown signs of returning to form with a Top 20 finish in his last start two weeks ago. He has played this course on numerous occasions and although he missed the cut last year he was previously Top 15 and Top 5. In a weak field he can go close this week.

Dylan Frittelli each way at 66/1

I couldn’t resist throwing the South African in to the staking plan especially when I picked up that he finished in 6th position last year at this track. He is coming off a short layoff, but he has been fairly consistent in recent times with 3 Top 35 finishes and a missed cut in his last 4 starts. Putting 4 rounds together has proved a problem for him of late, but in this field he must have every chance.
