CitizenBlogIt looks as though we are still some way from live sport in South Africa, but around the world things are gradually getting going again.

During Rugby season I log on to the Goodforthegame website many times during the day, but during this lockdown period I just pop on every now and again to see if there is anything of interest.

At the top of the Home Page this week I saw a preview for the NRL written by one of our regulars Couch Critic. In his preview he explains the NRL is getting going this week and he explains that having been to Australia he has had the opportunity to watch the game and it is not a bad substitute for Rugby Union.

Rugby League, for some reason, never took off in South Africa, I myself played a season for the Randburg Raiders back in the late 90’s, but perhaps Rugby Union in this country is just too strong?

Anyway after reading his article I found myself intrigued and actually looking forward to getting involved in the NRL and a quick search of local bookies sites showed there was both outright and match betting with 8 matches a weekend spread over 4 days. This is actually preferable in my opinion to Super Rugby which tends to condense the games and leaves hardly any family time.

Just as my excitement was building I got brought back down to earth when it became a apparent that NRL is not televised in South Africa and to watch it live I would have to find a way of streaming it, this is possible I am assured. This is very disappointing and I must say that in these times of little live sport, I think Super Sport have missed a trick.

Couch Critic will be writing a weekly preview for BetOlimp, a local bookmaker, which will be published on the Goodforthegame Website and you can see his tips each week which will include what he has become well known for in Rugby Union, that of the first Try Scorer pick.

If you are able to stream the action it promises to be a great betting build up to the New Zealand Super Rugby competition that starts in just a couple of weeks.

Till next time, stay safe and bet responsibly!
