warriorst20Tuesday’s action in the CSA T20 comes from Kimberley where the Knights host the Warriors and the visitors are bidding to make it two wins from two outings.

Knights:

The Knights opened their campaign away to the Dolphins on Saturday and they went down by 4 wickets. Batting first the Knights posted 133/8 and a number of batsmen got a start but failed to kick on. Opening bat Swanepoel top scored with 31 off 19 balls and he hit 3 of his sides six maximums.

The total looked vulnerable and although the Knights hopes were raised when the Dolphins lost their fourth wicket with the score on 68 in 10.5 overs, the home side steadied the ship and got up with 9 balls to spare. Of the Knights bowlers van Schalkwyk came out best with figures of 2/23 in his 4 overs.

This was how the Knights lined up in Durban.

Corne Dry, Andries Gous (wk), Patrick Kruger, Eddie Leie, Ryan McLaren, Grant Mokoena, Rudi Second, Aubrey Swanepoel, Pite van Biljon (capt), Shadley van Schalkwyk, Thandolwethu Mnyaka

In last season’s T20 Challenge the Knights also found it tough going, winning just 2 of their 10 matches with 5 defeats and 3 no results and they finished with the wooden spoon.

Warriors:

The Warriors travelled to take on a powerful Titans side in their opening match. The Titans had recently been crowned One Day Cup title winners and the Warriors were very much the underdogs. Things didn’t look good as the Titans piled on 216/5 batting first with Lutho Sipamla (2/32) and Jon-Jon Smuts (2-34) faring best of the Warriors attack.

The target was initially reduced to 200 off 18 overs and the Warriors were 60 without loss after 6 overs when play was halted for the final time. The warriors were 4 runs ahead on the revised DLS calculation, thanks largely to Gihahn Cloete’s 46 off just 25 balls.

This was how the Warriors lined up in their opening match.

Gihahn Cloete, Marco Marais, Matthew Breetzke, Jon-Jon Smuts (capt), Sinethemba Qeshile (wk), Lesiba Ngoepe, Onke Nyaku, Jade de Klerk, Sisanda Magala, Andrew Birch, Lutho Sipamla

Verdict:

The Warriors were perhaps fortunate in the way their interrupted game at the Titans panned out and will look to improvement in their bowling. The visitors probably deserve the favourites tag but the match result is passed over in favour of the Warriors to hit the most sixes with Cloete and Smuts the likely candidates to contribute to the tally.

Suggested Bet: Most Sixes, Warriors at even money.
