dc2019Match 26 of the IPL sees Kolkata Knight Riders host the Delhi Capitals on Friday and when the teams met earlier in the tournament a Super Over was required to settle the argument.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The Knight Riders bid to bounce back from defeat in their most recent outing away to the Super Kings on Tuesday. Batting first KKR were 3 wickets down with just 9 runs on the board and they never really recovered, eventually grinding their way to 108/9 despite another 50 from Andre Russell.

KKR’s overall record now comprises of 4 wins and 2 defeats with the other loss coming in the first meeting with Delhi in a Super Over.

They haven’t played at home since their first 2 games of the tournament which delivered wins over the Sunrisers (6 wickets) and the Kings XI (28 runs). Andre Russell and Nitish Rana were factors in both matches. Against the Sunirsers Rana made 68 and Russell blitzed an unbeaten 49 to take his side home. Against Kings XI Rana hit 63 and Russell 48 in a bat first total of 218 which the KKR bowlers successfully defended

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have 3 wins and 3 defeats to show for their efforts so far. They haven’t been in action since Sunday when they beat the Royal Challengers by 4 wickets in Bangalore where they chased down RCB’s bat first total of 149/8. Rabada returned figures of 4/21 in that game and Shreyas Iyer made 67 in Delhi’s chase.

The also won away at Mumbai by 37 runs in their first match of the tournament and the evidence so far suggests they are more effective when travelling.

Head to Head

Matches 23, Delhi wins 9, KKR wins 13, 1 tie (Delhi won the Super Over)

Match 10 this season went the full distance after the scores were tied at 185 apiece. Delhi opener Prithvi Shaw hit 99 in his innings and although the Capitals hit just 10 runs in their Super Over, Rabada defended it, conceding just 7 to give his side the win.

Betting Angle

Kolkata hasn’t hosted a match for a long time but the first 2 games here were relatively high scoring. Much has been made of the big hitting of KKR’s Andre Russell and rightly so, but our focus is on the visitors who also have some big hitters and Delhi are taken to clear the ropes at least 7 times.
