SAT20WCThe third and final one day internationals between South Africa and England takes place in Kimberley on Wednesday, the Proteas have already clinched the series and now go in search of a clean sweep.

 

 

 

The first two matches of the series were staged Bloemfontein and the Proteas reeled off back to back wins, by 27 runs in the first match and 5 wickets in the second.

 

In the opening game on Friday South Africa posted a total of 298/7 with van der Dussen top scoring with 111 (Sam Curran 3/35 from 9 overs). Despite an opening stand of 146 from Jason Roy (113) and Dawid Malan (59), England completely lost their way and were all out for 271 in 44.5 overs. Nortje took 4 wickets and Magala, who was Man of the Match took 3.

 

On Sunday England batted first and they posted 342/7 with Buttler not on 94 and Harry Brook made 80. Temba Bavuma's 109 was the top score in a successful chase and earned the MoM award. Markram made 49 and Miller was unbeaten on 58 when the Proteas got over the line with 5 balls remaining.

The Verdict

 

South Africa still have work to do to secure direct qualification for the next World Cup in this format so this is far from a dead rubber. England's bowling has been pretty poor and I see scope for plenty of runs.

 

We have seen centuries in both earlier matches but my preference is in the player to score a 50 market where Harry Brook and Heinrich Klaasen are my plays.
