Recent Form

South Africa

South Africa were due to host the Netherlands in November but the tour was cancelled and their most recent ODI action came when a team which was short of full strength went down 2-1 in Sri Lanka September 2021.

Prior to that the Proteas drew 1-1 in Ireland in July and in April South Africa hosted Pakistan and they lost a 3 match series 2-1.

India

India haven't played in this format since July last year when they won 2-1 in Sri Lanka and in March last year they were 2-1 winners at home to England.

The Verdict

On the back of the test series win I can see South Africa being competitive and Paarl is Shamsi territory who is my pick to be top SA bowler.

Temba Bavuma made some very useful contributions with the bat in the test series and with his confidence high he is taken to top score for the hosts.

India look a little short to me given such a long absence from this format. The Proteas are also short of a 50 over outing and I'm going to take a speculative nibble at over 1.5 total run outs at what looks a decent enough price.

Bets: Top SA Wicket Taker Shamsi at 3/1

Top SA Run Scorer Temba Bavuma at 7/2

Total run outs over 1.5 at 3/1
