wanderersThe second test match between South Africa and West Indies gets under way at The Wanderers on Wednesday and the Proteas lead the series 1-0

This is a 2 match series which will be followed by 3 ODI's and 3 T20's. The first test took place at Centurion last week and South Africa came out on top by 87 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first South Africa posted 342 in their first knock. Aiden Markram (115) and Dean Elgar (71) put on 141 for the first wicket but the innings fell away thereafter and Alzarri Joseph claimed 5 wickets.

In reply West Indies made 212 with Reifer (62) the only batsman to make it past 50, Nortje was the outstanding Proteas bowler with 5/36.

In the second innings Markram made 47 but the Proteas crumbled, all out for 116 in just 28 overs with Roach grabbing 5 wickets and Joseph added 2 more to his tally. West Indies were all out for 159 (Blackwood 79) with Rabada taking 6 wickets and Markram was named Man of the Match.

This was how the teams lined up in the first test, note Proteas bowler Nortje is reported out of the second test with an injury

The Betting - 2nd Test Match

At the time of writing South Africa are 1 / 4 to win the match with the draw at 7/1 and West Indies are 6/1

Markram and Elgar 3/1 joint favourites to top score for South Africa in the first innings and Kraigg Brathwaite is the same price to do likewise for West Indies

The Verdict

The Proteas lack of runs in the middle order last week will be a concern but Nortje and Rabada had too much for the West Indies batsman. Aiden Markram obliged for us with a 50 in the first innings in the first test, the price is a touch shorter this time but still looks attractive enough. Jermaine Blackwood is a more speculative choice in the same market for the visitors.
