saodiThe fourth ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa takes place in Pallekele on Wednesday and in what has been a largely one sided series so far the Proteas already have an unassailable 3-0 lead.

South Africa clinched the series with a 78 run victory at this venue on Sunday. Having successfully chased in winning the first 2 matches of the series the Proteas batted first at the weekend and they rattled up 363/7 with Reeza Hendricks top scoring with 102, JP Duminy hit 92 and there were 50’s for Amla and Miller. The innings included 8 maximums in what was easily the highest total of the series so far and although Thisara Perera took 4 wickets, his 10 overs went for 75 runs.

In the chase Sri Lanka lost regular wickets despite the bulk of their batsmen getting some sort of start. Their top scorer was Dhananjaya de Silva who made 84 batting at number 7 and although the home side’s total of 285 all out was easily their best effort of the series, they never really looked like winning the game.

The teams remain in Pallekele for this game which unlike Sunday’s match is a day night affair and after this the series concludes in Colombo at the weekend.

The Verdict:

I’ll revert back to Kusal Perera who to me still looks more likely than any of the home sides batsmen to score big.

Bet: Top SL Bat, Kusal Perera at 9/2
