saodiThe third ODI between Sri Lanka and South Africa takes place in Pallekele on Sunday and the Proteas are closing in on a series win.

 

 

 

The Proteas won the first two matches of the series, both staged in Dambulla by 5 wickets and 4 wickets respectively. At 2-0 up with 3 to play South Africa now bid to close out a series win against a Sri Lanka side who’s top order has found it tough going when it comes to keeping wickets in tact.

On Wednesday South Africa won the second ODI after restricting Sri Lanka to 244/8. Ngidi and Phehlukwayo shared 6 of the Sri Lankan wickets to fall with the Sri Lankan skipper Mathews (79 not out) and Dickwella (69) the only batsmen to make it past 20.

In reply de Kock and Amla put South Africa in control with an opening partnership of 91 in just 14 overs. Quinton de Kock went on to top score with 87 to claim the MoM award and Faf du Plessis made 49 before becoming the third victim of Sri Lanka’s most successful bowler Dananjaya .
