Friday’s televised Momentum One Day Cup action sees the Warriors host the Knights in East London and whilst the Warriors are looking to strengthen their hand in the race for the play offs, the Knights are still searching for a first victory.
Warriors:
The Warriors have lost top spot in the standings to the Titans but they are still handily placed for the play offs. Coming into the weekend’s matches the Warriors were in second spot, 4 points adrift of the Titans but 2 clear of the Dolphins and the Cobras whilst the Lions and the Knights look highly unlikely to challenge.
The Warriors have won 4, lost 2 and no result was possible in 1 of their matches. They were sitting pretty at the top of the log after 4 wins in their first 5 but last week they suffered back to back defeats, home and away to the Titans.
Knights:
It’s been a miserable campaign so far for the Knights. They have played just the 6 matches and 2 of those were washed out but the other 4 have ended in defeat. Although they are 6 points adrift of the fifth placed Lions they do have 2 games in hand on that side so they could yet haul themselves up the standings.
The first meeting between these teams came in Match 9 in Kimberley. The Warriors were bowled out for just 195 but after a slight reduction in overs due to rain, their bowlers defended it with the Knights coming up 14 runs short (DLS).

Verdict:
Those recent defeats to the Titans may not have done the Warriors any favours and although they had done very little wrong before that, I wouldn’t want to take too short a price about the home win.
Meanwhile the Knights ought to be capable of much better than they have shown so far but it’s getting harder to make excuses for their winless run.
I’ll take my chances with under 44.5 total match 4’s, mainly as bowlers were on top when these teams met earlier in the season.
