CC18WP 150The final match of the regular Currie Cup season sees the Blue Bulls host Western Province at Loftus on Saturday, both teams are bound for the play offs but by kick off time Province will know what is required to secure top spot.

Blue Bulls v Western Province, Saturday 13th October, Pretoria, Kick Off 17:15

Weather Forecast: - Pretoria

Referee: Egon Seconds
Assistant referees: Jaco Pretorius, Eduan Nel
Television match official: Lesego Legoete

Blue Bulls:

Coming into the weekend the Blue Bulls were in third spot in the standings, 4 points behind the second placed Sharks, 1 point in front of the Lions and 5 clear of the Pumas. With the Pumas playing the Lions on Friday their play off place is secure but they would need the Sharks to trip up in Kimberley earlier on Saturday and then win this game with daylight in order to avoid travelling in the knockout rounds.

The Bulls have a record of 3 wins and 2 defeats and those 3 victories came against sides below them in the standings. They lost 38-35 at home to the Lions early in the tournament and 26-10 away at the Sharks.

Western Province:

Province have won all 5 matches and have a full house of 25 log points. Their lead over the Sharks at the top of the log stands at 4 points so if the Durban side come away from Griquas with a bonus point win, Province will need to take a log point from this game to finish top and home advantage in the semi’s and final, should they get that far.

Whilst Province had problems when travelling in the 2017 regular season they have been dominant in the current campaign. They made short work of pre-match handicap quotes in beating the Pumas 57-28 in Nelspruit and the Lions 65-38 in Johannesburg. WP are trading at odds on to retain the trophy and last time out they were 50-28 winners at home to the second placed Sharks.

The Betting

Bulls +10.5 points 9/10 WSB

Province -8 points 9/10 BetXchange

Note, odds quoted are correct at the time of last update but are subject to change.

Betting Angle

Both sides welcome a number of returning Boks into their match day squads for what should be a very watchable game. I fancy Province at the best current minus given they have been ruthless all tournament and the Bulls are unlikely to be able to finish any higher than their current third position in the standings.

Chris’s Bet: 5 units Province -8 points 9/10 BetXchange
