FranceEuroEuropean Championship outright favourites France are in action on Monday when they take on Switzerland in a Round of 16 clash in Budapest

France

France were drawn in Group F, the toughest of the quartet's and it went down to the wire. The World Cup holders topped the group, unbeaten with 5 points, 1 clear of Germany and Portugal and Hungary were much more competitive than had been envisaged in finishing fourth with 2 points.

France started with a 1-0 win over Germany in Munich thanks to an own goal but after that they didn't have things all their own way. in their second outing France had to settle for a 1-1 draw in Hungary at this venue with Griezmann scoring a second half equalizer.

Their final group match against Portugal was also staged in Budapest, France came from a goal down to lead 2-1 with Benzema scoring either side of half time, the first being a penalty but Portugal hit back and the game finished locked up at 2-2.

The winner of this match will face either Spain or Croatia in the quarter finals.

France's remain favourites to win the tournament at around 4/1 and they can be backed at around 9/4 to reach the final.

Switzerland

Switzerland arrive in the last 16 after finishing third in Group A with 4 points, 5 shy of Italy, just behind Wales on goal difference and Turkey failed to register a point.

The Swiss started with a 1-1 draw against Wales in Baku with Embolo's opening goal early in the second half cancelled out by a 74th minute Welsh equalizer. Switzerland were never in the hunt in their second group match, a 3-0 defeat to Italy in Rome which meant they needed to beat Turkey in their final group match. First half goals from Seferovic and Shaqiri put them in command and although Turkey pulled a goal back Shaqiri rounded off the scoring in a 3-1 win.

In the Euro 2016 finals Switzerland drew 0-0 with France in the group stage, the French went on to finish as runners up and the Swiss were eliminated in the last 16, losing 2-1 to Poland.

In the betting to win the tournament Switzerland are priced at around 100/1

The Betting

90 minutes: France are trading at around 5/10 to win the game in regulation time with the draw at 3/1 and Switzerland can be backed at around 56/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 21/20 and it's 12/10 for both teams to score.

To qualify for the next round under any means of victory France are priced at around 2/9 and Switzerland are 3/1

The Verdict:

France topped the toughest group and although they only won 1 of their 3 matches I don't see Switzerland having enough to threaten a surprise.

For a bet I'm looking to the French multigoals market with preference for the tournament favourites to score 2 or 3 (in 90 minutes)

Bets: (90 mins) France multigoals 2-3 at 21/20
