NetherlandsEuroThe Uefa Nations League see the Netherlands take on Croatia on Wednesday and Spain will clash with Italy on Thursday

These semi finals plus the third and fourth placed play off and the final at the weekend are all staged in the Netherlands. The tournament concludes at the end of a marathon domestic season for the players and they probably won't be easy to call but we will do our best.

Netherlands 21/20 Draw 2.45/1 Croatia 2.64/1

Over the course of the last 12 months the Netherlands are unbeaten in the Nations League. They started with a terrific 4-1 win in Belgium and in their most recent UNL appearance in October last year they completed the double over the Belgians with a 1-0 home win. They also beat Wales away (2-1) and at home (3-2), they drew 2-2 at home to Poland and won the return 2-0.

In World Cup 2022 in Qatar the Dutch made it to the quarter finals where they lost an epic clash with eventual champions Argentina 4-2. Most recently the Dutch crashed 4-0 away to France in a Euro 2024 qualifier in March this year before completing a routine 3-0 home win over Gibraltar.

Croatia started their campaign with a 2-0 home defeat to Austria before playing out a 1-1 draw at home to France. From there onwards they were foot perfect including a 1-0 win in France and victories home and away to Denmark before another win in Austria.

Croatia went one step further than the Dutch in the World Cup, knocking out Brazil on their way to the semi finals where they went down 3-0 to Argentina. Euro qualifier results this year comprise of a 1-1 draw at home to Wales followed by a 2-0 win in Turkey.

The Verdict:

Home advantage should be a big plus for the Dutch but Croatia are no pushovers. I'm leaning towards both teams to score? (yes) for a play, an outcome which has arrived in the semi finals of both previous editions of this tournament. Cody Gakpo has had time to recover from the end of Liverpool's season and he provides the anytime goalscorer interest.

Bets: Both teams to score? (yes) at 0.93/1 with Playabets

Anytime goalscorer Gakpo at 24/10 with Palaybets

Spain 1.27/1 Draw 22/10 Italy 2.36/1

Spain's UNL campaign started with score draws at home to Portugal and away to Czech Republic. They kept clean sheets with wins in Switzerland and in the return with Czechs, then lost at home to the Swiss before coming through their final match with a 1-0 win in Portugal.

Spain's 2022 World Cup finals campaign ended at the first knockout round when they were ousted by Morocco on spot kicks. Euro qualifying this year began with a 3-0 home win over Norway before a shock 2-0 defeat in Scotland.

Italy won 3 of their 6 UNL matches last year, at home to Hungary 2-1, away to the same opposition (2-0) and at home to England 1-0 . They also drew 1-1 at home to Germany but crashed to a 5-2 defeat in the return and played out a 0-0 draw in England.

Italy didn't qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals whilst their Euro qualifying campaign this year started with a 2-1 home defeat to England before a 2-0 win in Malta.

The Verdict:

Spain have brought along their bright young stars but that defeat in Scotland would have to be a concern. Meanwhile despite their clubs impressing in the Champions League question marks also remain over the Italian national side who were pretty average in that recent Euro qualifying home defeat to England.

A nibble at the draw is a bit of a token gesture but meetings between these two nations are usually tight.
