UkraineEuroUkraine clash with Austria in European Championship Group C in Bucharest on Monday, any winner here will be assured of a place in the last 16 but the betting suggests the draw is a big runner.

Ukraine

Ukraine earned their first points with a 2-1 victory over North Macedonia on Thursday, a result which means North Macedonia have been eliminated. First half goals from Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk put them in control but North Macedonia fought back, halved the deficit in the second half and after Malinovskiy missed a penalty for Ukraine they ended up grateful for any sort of victory.

Ukraine had a tough looking first group match against the Netherlands in Amsterdam. The first half finished without a goal but Ukraine conceded twice in the opening 13 minutes of the second half. To their credit they hit back with 2 quick goals from Yarmolenko (75) and Malinovskiy (79) only for the Dutch to snatch a winner 5 minutes from the end.

Austria

Austria were decidedly second best in a 2-0 defeat to the Netherlands in their second group match, a reulst which saw the Dutch seal top spot in the group. Austria are level on 3 points with Ukraine and hence the outcome of this match will determine who finishes as runners up and who will be hoping for a best third place finish. Austria have a slight disadvantage in terms of goals scored so if they are to finish above Ukraine they need to win this game.

Austria had started their tournament against North Macedonia. They took the lead through Lainer but a mix up in defence saw them pegged back before half time. Austria had to wait until 78 minutes to regain the lead through Gregoritsch and Marco Arnautovic sealed a 3-1 win.

The Betting

Ukraine are trading at around 2.65/1 to win the game with the draw at 19/20 and Austria can be backed at around 27/10

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 2.15/1 and it's 21/20 for both teams to score.

The Verdict:

Ukraine have the knowledge that a draw will suffice and whether Austria will go gung ho to try and get their noses in front is open to some debate as a draw might

well be enough for them to avoid a group stage exit.

What would have looked a tricky match result to call now has an unusual look to it with the draw a huge favourite.

I still think there might be scope for some needle between the teams and I'd be nervous about taking the draw. For now I'll speculate a penalty will be awarded to either side.

Bets: Penalty to be awarded to either side ? (yes) at 5/2
