REBEL BARON seemed to find the ten furlongs beyond his reach on this course recently but he was kindly docked two pounds in his merit rating. He will prefer this drop in distance and of course the chestnut colt went close over this track & trip in his penultimate showing. The four-year old finished just under one length in front of the top weight SEVENTH OF JUNE that day and is 0.5kg to the good. He has a good draw and top jockey Delpech takes the ride.

Race 8: MARMOOK(8)

Jockey: G Lerena  - Trainer: M De Kock

This is an extremely competitive five furlong handicap featuring some useful sorts who should contribute to an exciting spectacle. The three-year olds hold a strong hand and MARMOOK continues to improve after being gelded. He handled the rise in class smartly when staying on strongly for a close 4th over this c & d three weeks ago and quite surprisingly escaped without a penalty. The imported inmate from the De Kock yard is favourably drawn on his peak showing today and top jockey Gavin Lerena is unbeaten on him.

Jockey: A Delpech   - Trainer: M De Kock 

The lightly raced three-year old filly JAZAALAH has improved quickly with experience and she was only caught late on yielding ground on her handicap debut in similar company over this distance two weeks ago. She finished well clear of the 3rd placed entrant OSCULATION whom she meets on 0.5kg worse terms and the imported daughter of More Than Ready certainly has more to offer. She shed her maiden tag in her only track outing. The latter got going late that day and she can contest minor money here.

SAVETHEBESTFORLAST had two creditable recent performances over a trip that may just have been on the f ar side for her but she will love this drop in distance today. The four-year old bay filly takes on considerably stronger rivals but she has a swift turn of foot that is conducive to this circuit and she shoulders a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs. Furthermore, the daughter of Kahal thrashed her opposition under today's jockey in the maiden ranks in early June.
