TOP BET

Race 3: MAZARI(3)
Jockey: C Zackey- Trainer: C Spies

CURRENCY was yet another to suffer the Van Halen wrath on debut ten days ago but this daughter of Judpot took on male rivals that day indicating that her conditioner feels she may be above-average. Her time was slower than a few of the fillies who campaigned over the same c & d 35 minutes earlier but this inmate from the Matchett yard would have come on appreciably from the experience and of course she is facing her own sex today. She could have MAZARI to beat though.

Race 6: LAST CHIRP(2)
Jockey: S Brown - Trainer: St John Gray

LAST CHIRP continues to plummet in the merit ratings but the once promising chestnut filly showed signs of life when making late headway behind male opposition over a similar distance three weeks ago. Her yard's horses are campaigning well at present and she can cause a major upset in this wide open contest.

Race 7: SECRET HARBOUR(2)
Jockey: R Simons  - Trainer: P Matchett

This is a tricky seven furlong Novice Handicap where the three-year olds could dominate the finish despite their big masses. SECRET HARBOUR was possibly unsuited to night racing when he flopped in a weaker contest recently but he didn't disgrace himself in strong company over similar distances prior to that. He has come down nicely in the merit ratings and should bounce back to form here.

Race 8: SHOGUN(5)
Jockey: Weicho Marwing   - Trainer: O Ferraris

There are quite a few frontrunners, most of whom hail from the Scott Kenny yard and they should ensure a solid tempo. The ultra-consistent five-year old SHOGUN takes a 'special' ride but he has the credentials to go really close in this line-up.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: TWICE A DANCER(13)
Jockey: J V.D.Merwe   -  Trainer - S Tarry

The three-year old bay colt TWICE A DANCER is much better than his recent form indicates and he is fast reaching a highly competitive merit rating. The Tarry inmate was an impressive maiden winner of his only c & d showing and he can cause a major upset with his low mass today.
