RACE 1
SPLICETHEMAINBRACE is the only winner in this contest. She showed good guts to win on debut over 800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate could be anything and if seeing out the 1000m, she can remain unbeaten.
MAGICAL RIVER made the natural improvement when second in her last start over this C&D. She finished 5.85 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
MILLION REASONS finished 4 lengths behind the second selection on debut. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She would have come on from the run and with the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba, she should make the natural progression.
RACE 2
ANATOLIAN SILVER caught the eye when running on to finish fifth over 1200m last time. The son of Futura is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1600m. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be the one to side with.
MASTER OF DEFENSE set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish second. He is drawn widest of all but with luck in running, he should pose a threat.
WILLIAM’S LEGACY has shown improvement since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He stayed on when second over 1400m last time. He gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba which will assist his cause. He should have no issues with the rise to the mile and merits healthy respect.
RACE 3
MO FLOW has shown good improvement in his last two starts. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was inconvenienced at the 50m mark. The son of Royal Mo should love the rise to 2000m. With a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.
PLAYER X is having his first run for the Zietsman Oosthuizen stable. He was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages. On his previous form and if settled into his new surroundings, he should pose a threat.
DUMISANI stayed on when third over 1400m on this course last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2000m. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade has scope and should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 4
TRIP TO BARBERTON should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was steadied in the latter stages. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. She jumps from a good draw of four and can return to winning ways in this line-up.
GET IT DONE finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D and cannot be ignored.
ON THE GUEST LIST stayed on when third over 1900m on this course. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is back against her own sex today and with luck in running, she should be competitive.
Race 5
PEDRO ran a good race when second over 1400m on this course. He raced from a handy position and stayed on strongly all the way to the line. He has cracked a good draw of two and Raymond Danielson may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
STORM COMMANDER is better than his last start over this C&D. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but Calvin Habib is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.
AFRICA’S ROCK stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. The 6yo gelding has dropped in the ratings and if getting away to a clean start, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 6
KHAYA’S HOPE is a winner of his last two starts. He returns from a well-deserved 13-week break. The 4yo gelding has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Craig Zackey who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. The son of The United States is the horse to beat.
PRINCE OF FIRE finished 2.75 lengths behind INHERIT THE RAIN last time. He is 6.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is suited to this distance and should be competitive.
INHERIT THE RAIN rallied late when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. The 6yo gelding is in a good space and can earn another cheque for his patrons.
RACE 7
DAWN OF GOLD has produced two decent efforts since winning her maiden. She raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that United Express has come out and won again since. The daughter of Gold Standard is in a good space and can return to winning ways.
SATURN MOON was doing her best work late over 1200m in her local debut. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of William Longsword will love the rise in distance and is one of the leading contenders.
BURN BABY BURN ran a fair race in her post-maiden effort over 1600m on the Polytrack. She makes her Handicap debut and with luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 8
FERRANDO should have finished closer to the winner in his last start over this C&D. He had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The 5yo gelding takes a drop-in class and with a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.
WAR LAUNCH finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
GLOBAL GODDESS has good recent form lines to her name. She finished third in her penultimate run over this C&D. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money
