Race 1

WINTER JOURNEY showed good speed in her last start over 1200m and stayed on to finish second. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D was encouraging. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen which should help her chances. From her good draw of three, she is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

GUY FOX is much better than his last start in the soft with the blinkers fitted. He finished second in his four starts prior to that outing. The blinkers have been quickly removed and he should be the first male past the post.

LA FILLE finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights this afternoon and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 2

NKALANZINZI was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is much better suited to this distance with a record of two seconds and a third-place finish. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of her.

CAPRIANA stayed on when finishing third in her stable debut over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Toreador will enjoy the rise in distance and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BRASS LASSI returns from a 22-week break which may have done her the world of good. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D was encouraging. 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Cole Dicken takes the ride and if not in need of the run, she should run into the placings.

Race 3

FEARLESS KITTY raced from a handy position in her last start over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville but found one too good in the form of Snow Tune. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the step up to the mile. She is having her peak run and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

CASHEW ran on strongly when finishing second over 1400m on the turf last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She is versatile and merits healthy respect.

VICTORY VISION has shown improvement in her last two starts with the cheekpieces fitted. She lost a length at the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. Warren Kennedy does duty and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

This is a competitive Merit Rated 72 Handicap and caution is advised. ARUMUGAM from the Peter Muscutt stable is the narrow first selection. He has won twice and finished third three times from six starts on this course. He has ability and with a bit of luck from his outside draw, he can notch up his third career victory.

VICTORY TWIST should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the latter stages. He showed good guts when winning his penultimate run over this C&D. He is likely to race on the pace and may be hard to peg back.

ROY’S COMMAND was an easy winner of his last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which he quickened up and drew away from the opposition was eye-catching. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 5

MAJORCA PALACE’S last three starts have been good. He raced wide around the turn last time, but stayed on nicely to finish second. He finished 0.05 lengths behind WINTER FLIGHT, three runs ago. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. Sean Veale steps back into the saddle and he can return to winning ways.

PRINCEKRESH finished 0.75 lengths behind WINTER FLIGHT in the race referred to above. He is also 2.5kgs better off at the weights and should have the upper hand today.

WINTER FLIGHT showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory and can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 6

GREEN DREAM has run four encouraging races since shedding her maiden tag. She should have finished closer to the winner over 1200m last time as she had to switch at the 250m mark. She will enjoy the step up to 1400m and from her good of two, she may be the one to side with.

HATTA followed up her maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1600m on this course. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

QAARAAT won a good race in her last start over 1600m. She was reported to be not striding out that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. The horse that finished third has come out and won since. She has the pace to overcome the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.

Race 7

TARANTINO has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this distance. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and in this type of field, he can return to winning ways.

CAPTAIN SEAGER’S last two starts have been good. He set the pace over this C&D last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Cupid’s Song. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and should pose a massive threat.

PROUD MASTER has had excuses in his last two starts. He is having his second run after a rest and should strip much fitter. The son of Master Of My Fate has plenty of scope and can run into the placings.

Race 8

VALENCIA won a good race in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He has interestingly changed stables since that outing. He takes a drop in class and jumps from pole position. 4kgs claiming apprentice Kaidan Brewer retains the ride and if settled into his new yard, he can follow up.

SOVEREIGN SOLDIER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. He returns from a 15-week break and if not in need of the run, he should be one of the leading contenders.

FIERY DUKE ran a good race when finishing third over 1600m on this course. He meets a similar type of field and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should feature
