Race 1

DARK WINTER produced a promising debut effort in the Non-Black Type Kaapse Klopse Summer Coronation Plate. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

SYMPHONY IN WHITE is an unraced daughter of What A Winter from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. She is related to two-time winner Snow Pilot. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

EUREKA DIAMOND is a daughter of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith stable with JP van der Merwe in the irons. She is related to multiple winners Forever Mine and Master Newton. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 2

ONE STRIPE ran a creditable race on debut over 1000m on this course, in the Non-Black Type Trippi Stakes. He was green in running, but stayed on nicely at the finish. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. It must be noted that Roman Agent has come out and won again since. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

ARISTOTLE is an unraced son of Rafeef from the Justin Snaith stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Chloris. If not in need of the run, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.

GOLDEN DESTINY is a son of Rafeef from the Dean Kannemeyer yard with stable jockey Craig Zackey up. He is related to multiple winners including Siberian Steel and Spring In Heaven. If not too green, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 3

COUNTER ATTACK stayed on at the finish over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Champagne Mac. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. The son of Querari is the stable elect with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle and he can shed his maiden tag.

TAM’S KNIGHT made the expected natural improvement when second in a work riders race over this C&D last time. The son of Master Of My Fate is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

IGUGULETHU’S last two starts have been good. He finished second in his penultimate run over this C&D. Grant van Niekerk is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 4

STRATA finished 1.25 lengths behind TEQUILA SKY last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She is a battling maiden who shows good speed and may be rewarded for consistency.

TEQUILA SKY showed good speed over 1000m on this course last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Dame Of Trix. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LOOK FORWARD returns from a 15-week break which may have done her the world of good. She has finished second three times from six starts over this C&D. The daughter of Master Of My Fate carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and if fit, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 5

COUNTDOWN is better than his last start in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate. He over raced in the early stages of the race and understandably did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. He is the highest rated horse in the race and can return to winning ways.

YELLOWPORSCHEROAD won a good race in his last start over 1000m on this course. He finished 0.1 lengths behind DANCE VARIETY in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

DANCE VARIETY ran on powerfully to win his last start over this C&D. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

PALO QUEEN has some good recent form lines to her name. She finished 3.75 lengths behind SILVER SCREEN last time and is 4.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. Rachel Venniker is booked to ride and the combination may be hard to peg back.

SILVER SCREEN was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. She showed good speed, found another kick and drew clear. Grant van Niekerk retains the ride and she merits healthy respect.

COUNTRY TIME showed good signs of a form return last time. She finished 2.75 lengths behind the second choice that day. She is 3kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.

Race 7

JAPANESE ROSE’S last start in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out post race. It must be noted that Beach Bomb has come out and won another Grade 1 since. She won her previous two starts well and drops in class. From her good draw of two, she may be the one to side with.

FUN ZONE finished 2.3 lengths behind MONTELENA last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Her last victory came under Aldo Domeyer and she must be included in all bets.

MONTELENA won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She recieved a five-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a very good space and cannot be ignored.

Race 8

COULDITBE should have finished much closer to the winner last time as she had no luck in running. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Gareth Wright retains the ride from another wide draw and with luck, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

TYPEFACE was running on too late when second in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Futura meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she is one of the leading contenders.

CATTALEYA finished 0.1 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. Her last victory came under Luyolo Mxothwa and she should give a good account of herself
