Race 1
ELEGANT ACT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She stayed on when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Act Of War meets the right field and she can shed her maiden tag.
ONE SMART COOKIE stayed on when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber is having her peak run and she should be cherry-ripe.
EMERALD GREEN has run three fair races to date. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. She is back against her own sex and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be competitive.
Race 2
FEW DOLLARS MORE was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1700m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has been gelded and if not in need of the run, he can follow up with another victory.
BRAVE VOYAGER set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Sundance Kid. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and she may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
CIRCLE OF GRACE received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. The manner in which he finished off his race suggests that he should have no issues with the rise to the mile. If suited to the polytrack, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
COLUMBIA ROAD showed some signs of needing her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and in this line-up, she can notch up her third-career victory.
INGAKARA’S last two starts have been fair. She has won once, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SUMMERLAND has fair recent form lines to her credit. If suited to the Polytrack, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.
Race 4
FUTURE SAINT stayed on when third over 1400m on this course last time. The son of Futura will love the rise to 1900m. He does have an awkward draw of eight to overcome, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. The combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
VIHAAN’S BOMB showed good improvement in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He steps up to 1900m and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat to the top choice.
THE GREEN GALLANT’S last two starts have been good. If jumping on terms from pole position, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 5
FINE ADMIRAL took on stronger company in his last start over 1800m on this course. He was squeezed leaving the start, but stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He takes a drop back in class and Craig Zackey may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
SAFE SPACE showed good improvement over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position, moved up well but was caught late by Justfortheepenny. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
RAVENS SWORD finished 2.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
CHARA SANDS’ last two starts have been fair. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from ten starts over this C&D. The 5-year-old gelding takes a slight drop-in class and may be hard to peg back.
TRAFALGAR SQUARE set the pace over 1200m last time and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. Two of his six career victories have come over this C&D. He is in a good space and is one of the leading contenders.
GRIFFIN PARK won a good race in his stable debut over 1200m on this course. He does take on stronger company, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 7
IBUTHO was an easy winner of his last start over 1400m on this course. He ran on well and drew clear of the opposition. He has won twice, finished second twice and third three times from nine starts over this C&D. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.
MIDNIGHT CALLER had to overcome the widest draw in his last start over 1400m on the turf, but stayed on to finish fourth. He has cracked a good draw of three and merits healthy respect.
SUNDANCE KID won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position and drew clear of the opposition. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of Master Of My Fate and he can follow up.
Race 8
WOODLAND RETREAT showed some signs of a form return in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She was reported to have been cut into that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. The daughter of Pomodoro has dropped in the ratings and takes a drop-in class. She has cracked a good draw of four and may be the one to cause the upset.
JAZZ DIVA got up on the line to win her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She would have come on from the run and can follow up.
MAURITANIA won her last start over 1600m at a nice price. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Richard Fourie does duty and the combination can run into the money
