Race 1

This is an open Workriders Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is MIDNIGHT BADGER from the Paul Peter stable. He produced a typical second run after a rest over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course last time. His penultimate run when finishing third catches the eye. He will be cherry-ripe and with the services of Phelisile Mongqawa, he may be the one to side with.

BERNIE’S DREAM raced wide around the turn in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He has won once and finished second twice from six starts on this course. He gets the services of capable workrider Anathi Feni and on best form shown, should pose a massive threat.

SPACE RACE is a winner of her last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She makes her course debut and if suited to the track, she can notch up the hat- trick.

Race 2

CAPTAIN CATMAN ran a good race when finishing second over this distance on the Polytrack last time. He raced from a handy position, stayed on at the finish but found one too good in the form of Big Slick. The son of Captain Of All is a progressive sort and he may be a better horse on the turf. Richard Fourie may be able to get the best out of him.

CAPTAIN CASEY ran a decent race on debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He had to switch off heels at the 200m mark, but finished his race off strongly. The son of Captain Of All would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should pose the biggest threat.

LET’S GET TOGETHER has run three decent races to date. He should have finished closer last time as he hung in the latter stages. He should have no issues with the drop to 1200m and if keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.

Race 3

IMPOSING ran on strongly when second over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of Visionaire would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra 200m on offer. He looks to be a horse with ability and can go one better.

GALAXION made the natural improvement when finishing fourth over 1000m on this course. He returns from a 14-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He is a progressive type and if not in need of the run, he should have more to come.

POTENTE ran a good race when finishing second over 1000m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that Big Slick has come out and won again since. The gelding seems to have done the trick and he must be included in all bets.

Race 4

RUN AGAIN showed very good improvement when finishing second with the blinkers fitted last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Richard Fourie retains the ride and if repeating that effort in this type of field, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

SEA OF TEARS finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. She cost herself winning that day as she shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and if keeping on a straight line, she can win.

GUEST GETORIXX has decent form lines to her credit. She showed good pace in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Vision Of Will. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.

 

 

Race 5

SKY CAFE ran a good race when finishing second over 1200m on the Polytrack. She stayed on nicely at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Perfect Appeal who has come out and finished third since. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick and the manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will enjoy the 1400m. She is capable of shedding her maiden tag in this type of field. 

MINSTREL GALLERY made the natural improvement when finishing second over this distance last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CINNAMON BLUSH is the stable companion of the top choice. The daughter of Silvano is bred to enjoy the rise to 1400m. She has plenty of scope and from pole position, she should go close.

Race 6

FIREALLEY won a good race in his last start over 1200m at Kenilworth. He has won twice and finished second four times from eight starts over this distance. The son of Flower Alley is entered for the Hollywoodbets Durban July. Richard Fourie takes the ride and if suited to this course, he should notch up his sixth career victory.

WARRIOR was unlucky in the Listed Jet Master Stakes as he had to be switched at the 300m mark. He has won four times, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this distance. He has bigger plans for the season, but has class and should fight out the finish.

HOEDSPRUIT ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Cape Town Met last time. He returns from a 16-week break which may have done him the world of good. He may be in need of the run over this distance, but has the ability to finish in the first three.

Race 7

STAR ACT is lightly raced with top form to her credit. She should have won her last start over this C&D as she shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. She races well fresh and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps into the saddle. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

ROZARA has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won four times, finished second twice and third twice from eleven starts over this distance. If keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive.

SWEET SENSATION is better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing. She won a good race in her penultimate run over this distance at the Vaal. If all went well with her travels, she should go close to winning.

Race 8

LADY SERENA is a winner of her last two starts over this C&D. The daughter of Wylie Hall takes a drop in class this afternoon. She may still be ahead of the handicapper and from her mid-field draw, she will be mowing down the frontunners in the run down to the line.

ICY NIGHT is better than her last start over this distance at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is having her peak run today and with the blinkers re-fitted, she should go close to winning.

SEA EAGLE finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. She jumps from a good draw of two and merits healthy respect.

Race 9

PARMENION made the expected natural improvement when finishing fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Crusade will be at home over the 1400m. He is a progressive type and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should be the horse to beat.

PETECA was running on when finishing third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If not in need of this outing, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GREAT ECSTASY showed good improvement when finishing fourth over 1200m on the polytrack last time. He was reported to have cast a shoe in running that day. The son of Great Britain will enjoy the extra furlong on offer and may have more to come
