Race 1

MIA LOA produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course, two weeks ago. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the extra 100m on offer. The daughter of Erupt would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she is the horse to beat.

RED ROSES TOO is an unraced daughter of Captain Of All from the Dennis Drier stable with Sean Veale in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first-timers in this contest.

BEGONIA finished 1.85 lengths behind the top choice last time. She will enjoy the extra distance on offer and can improve to finish in the first three.

Race 2

MADIBA’S CUPPA has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He set the pace last time, was bumped at the 100m mark but stayed on nicely to finish second. The son of Master Of My Fate tries the 2400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can go one better.

PARK AND FLY has fair form lines to her credit. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will be at home over the 2400m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

COLOUR MASTER’S last three starts have been fair. He should enjoy the extra 600m on offer and if jumping on terms, he can finish in the first three in this type of field.

Race 3

Four of the seven runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. RULERSHIP is a son of William Longsword from the Mike Miller stable with Serino Moodley in the saddle. His mother, Clear Sailing was a nine-time winner from 1000m – 1200m. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start.

BIG SLICK is a son of Canford Cliffs from the Yogas Govender yard with Ashton Arries up. He is related to three-time winner Gold Image.

SEISMIC EVENT may be the first raced runner past the post. He ran a fair race in his last start over 1100m on this course. The son of Erupt looks progressive and can improve to finish in the first four.

Race 4

LADIES DAY’S last three starts have been good. She has finished second three times and third twice from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Great Britain is having her first run on this track and if suited to the straight course, she may be hard to peg back.

NAMAQUA DOVE produced a good comeback run over this distance on the Polytrack. She showed good pace, but found one too good in the form of My Elouise. She should strip much fitter and Warren Kennedy may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

VISION OF WILL’S last two starts have been good. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.

Race 5

GREY VIEW has good recent form lines to his credit. He was reported to be cut into on his right hind leg last time. He has finished second once and third twice from four starts over this distance. The son of Greys Inn is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He meets the right field and can shed his maiden tag.

ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA is an unraced son of Pomodoro from the Nathan Kotzen yard with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle. He is related to four-time winner Captain Oupie. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

THUNDER MASALA showed good improvement in his last start over 1600m. He drops back to 1200m, but gets the blinkers fitted which should sharpen him up.

Race 6

BLAZE OF SILK produced fair consistent form before given a 12-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won four times, finished second twice and third twice from 19 starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and can return to winning ways.

WE ALL CHOMIES was unlucky last time as he had to be eased at the 700m mark and the 450m mark. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he can go one better.

FAUSTINO finished 0.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 7

KEEP ON DANCING was unlucky in the Non-Black Type River Indigo Handicap as she clipped heels at the 1300m mark. She has won four times and finished third once from six starts on this course. The 5yo mare is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Warren Kennedy knows her well and the combination should return to winning ways.

MOUNT LAUREL is the stable companion of the top choice. She moved up like a winner in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes last time, but was outrun late by Zimbaba. If keeping on a straight line, she should fight out the finish.

GLORY DAYS should have finished closer in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes last time as she had to be switched at the 300m mark. She is having her peak run today and with a bit of luck in running, she should be competitive.

Race 8

SKY CAFE should have finished closer to the winner over this distance last time as she was bumped at the 250m mark. Her penultimate run on this course must be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. Donovan Dillon retains the ride and with a bit of luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag in this type of field.

QUEEN MERCURY is better than her last start suggests as she was reported to be coughing. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D, three runs ago. If not in need of the run, she should be one of the leading contenders.

REGINAS ANGEL has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and the pair will be staying on at the finish
