SOHO STAR produced a promising debut effort at long odds over this C&D. Despite receiving a bump at the 300m mark, he fought hard all the way to the line. The son of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and unless one of the first timers have ability, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
MICKEY BLUE EYES is an unraced son of William Longsword from the Mike Miller stable with Tristan Godden in the saddle. Interestingly, he gets the blinkers fitted. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.
STRATEGIC POINT should have finished closer to the winner on debut as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. The son of Erupt would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he can feature.
Race 2
GOOD LIVING was in need of his debut effort over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Querari will be at home over the extra furlong on offer. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
THE SPECIALIST ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. He was slow into stride but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he is one of the leading contenders.
MISTER NIBBLES showed good improvement when third over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He is the stable elect with Tristan Godden in the saddle and may have more to come.
Race 3
THE MIKADO produced a promising debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
HAVANA MOON was unlucky not to have won his last start over this C&D. The son of Last Winter is clearly a progressive type and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
DAPPER finished 0.7 lengths behind the second selection on debut. The son of Lancaster Bomber would have gained from the experience and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, he should make the natural improvement.
Race 4
TERIYAKI should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung and had to be switched inwards at the 200m mark. The son of Willow Magic has shown good improvement with the blinkers fitted. With a bit of luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.
STAR OF THE FUTURE produced a promising debut effort over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He returns from a 29-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
AVRO PRINCE showed massive improvement when fifth in his last start over this C&D. The son of Lancaster Bomber is a progressive type and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he may have more to come.
Race 5
TOMYRIS was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. She was unlucky not to have won as she had to be switched for running room at the 150m mark. She will love the rise to the mile. With a bit of luck in running, she should go one better.
DYNASTY’S LAST showed massive improvement when fourth in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. She will strip a much fitter horse and is one of the leading contenders.
SWEETER THAN HONEY has good recent form lines to her credit. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Willow Magic merits healthy respect.
Race 6
IVY LEAGUE returns from a 17-week break which would have done her the world of good. She was not disgraced when sixth in the Grade 3 Betway Fillies Mile last time. The daughter of What A Winter is above average and if not in need of this outing, she can return to winning ways.
GRANDI ORECCHIE returns from a lengthy 30-week break. Her form before the rest was good. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if not in need of the run, she should pose a threat.
ICE SUNSATION has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She finished 1.3 lengths behind LADY HEIST in her penultimate run. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
THEAPPLEOFMYEYE finished 1.9 lengths behind LAST GINGER last time. She is 7kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Var has cracked pole position which is a positive. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
PINSTRIPE is better than her last start in stronger company. Her penultimate run when second over 1750m catches the eye. She will love the extra furlong on offer and against weaker company, she should be involved at the finish.
BURMESE TIARA finished 1.8 lengths behind LAST GINGER in the race referred to above. She is 7.5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around. If keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive.
Race 8
SWEET SYMPHONY finished 2.8 lengths behind CONVOCATION last time. She is 6kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Twice Over is having her peak run today and can return to winning ways.
CONVOCATION won a good race in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is in a good space and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be involved at the finish.
PELARGONIUM finished 0.05 lengths behind GET IN THE Q last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If keeping on a straight line, she should be competitive
