Race 1

IBIZA NIGHT showed improvement in his last start over this C&D. He finished 1.05 lengths behind GLOBAL MOVEMENT that day. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT stayed on when second over this C&D last time. The 5yo gelding is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Sean Veale is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

TORIX NIGHT finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 2

VERMACILLI showed good improvement in her last start over 1600m on the polytrack. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Ideal World should have no issues with the rise to 1750m. If confirming her recent improvement, she can return to winning ways.

NONOTI finished 0.45 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

ROY’S ROCKER finished 0.65 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

TRIPLE TIME has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers. The son of Twice Over is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if settled into KZN, he should be the one to beat.

SIGN OF FATE’S last effort in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that Gimme A Nother has come out and won again since. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and on previous form, she should pose a threat.

SHOOT THE RAPIDS won a good race in his last start over 2000m on the Polytrack. He takes on much stronger, but has scope and should give a good account of himself.

Race 4

KIND JUDY ran a fair race in her comeback run over 1800m on the Polytrack. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She will strip a much fitter horse and back on the turf, she can show.

JOLLIFICATION ran a fair race over 1800m on the Polytrack last time. She won a good race in her penultimate run over 1900m. Despite her big mass of 61.5kgs, she should pose a massive threat.

LILLYBELLE finished 1.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 5

MASTER JOSH has good consistent form lines to his credit. He set the pace over this C&D last time, fought hard but was touched off by Shampompo Shampizi. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. If getting away to a clean start, he should be hard to peg back.

PARMENION was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

RELEASE ME should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was struck by another crop at the 150m mark. He won his only attempt over this C&D. From pole position, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

MR MOLONY raced from a handy position over 1600m on the Polytrack last time and stayed on to finish second. The drop back to 1400m may suit him well and Gavin Lerena should be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

LUCKY DOLLAR showed good improvement in his last start with the blinkers removed. Tristan Godden retains the ride and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

QUICK STAR ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. The 8yo gelding has dropped to a competitive rating and from his good draw of three, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Race 7

RUGGER LOVER showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this distance on the Polytrack. She has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. She takes a drop in class and it is encouraging that Sean Veale retains the ride. If confirming her recent improvement, she can win a race of this nature.

FLYING THE STAR got up late to win her last start over this distance on the Polytrack. She has won once, finished second twice and third three times from 11 starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

SKY CAFE has fair recent form lines to her name. Her best form has been under Calvin Habib and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

PURPLE POWAHOUSE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He lost a length at the start last time and was running on to finish second. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is suited to this C&D and if getting away to a clean start, he may be rewarded for consistency.

NORTHERN WARRIOR dead heated when winning his last start over this C&D. He received the minimum two-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

HAPPY WANDERER’S last two starts have been fair. He drops back in class and may be hard to peg back at the finish
