Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: EX NIHILO(5)
Jockey: M Yeni  - Trainer: G Smith

A tricky opening contest with quite a few entrants with lively claims. EX NIHILO benefitted from his debut experience when producing a much improved second showing albeit on the polytrack. The bay colt was returning from an eleven week break so should strip fitter and can progress.

TOP BET

Race 2: SUPREME WINTER(2)
Jockey: M Yeni  - Trainer: G Smith

SUPREME WINTER had little go his way on local debut but the former Cape resident put his best foot forward as he ran on eye-catchingly for 2nd, albeit well beaten by the highly rated Kobus (flopped since). The chestnut gelding may have just needed that run and should stake a serious claim this time around.

Race 3: NATIONAL PARK(2)
Jockey: L Hewitson   - Trainer: Y Bremner

NATIONAL PARK was super-impressive when he gunned down FINLEY HILL (3kgs better off) over this c & d recently and the well-bred gelding appears a smart sort in the making. Of course the weight reversal indicates the size of his task today but the son of  Gimmethegreenlight has cracked a smart barrier and he undoubtedly has more to offer. That said, the latter also came from a wide stallgate when the pair clashed recently and the Bezrin colt now has his peak showing. The pair should fight out another close finish.

Race 4: PROSPECT STRIKE(6)
Jockey: T Juglall  - Trainer: G Paddock

PROSPECT STRIKE just seemed to find the nine furlongs beyond him when he was easily beaten by the useful top weight GIMME THE STARS a fortnight ago but the cut-back to the mile should suit the Paddock inmate perfectly. Of course the 2.5kgs favourable weight turnaround is a massive bonus. That said, the latter is also capable over this slightly shorter trip and should be highly competitive on his peak run despite the resultant five pound penalty.

VALUE BET

Race 8: JUST CHAOS(5)
Jockey: R Khathi   - Trainer: S Kotzen

This is a most intriguing listed juvenile contest for the girls as there aren't any out of town visitors in the line-up. Furthermore, only a quartet of locally based trainers fill the thirteen-horse field with nearly half of the representatives hailing from the powerful Greeff stable. That said, the solitary entrant from the Sharon Kotzen yard, JUST CHAOS is expected to build on her highly promising c & d triumph over KLEVER KATHY (3kgs better off) four weeks ago. She had quite a few other rivals behind her that day and she is well drawn at gate 2.
