Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SOUND OF VOICES(8)
Jockey: A DOMEYER  - Trainer: J SNAITH

The older entrants have had many chances so the juveniles, in particular the Snaith inmate SOUND OF VOICES could be a huge contender in this moderate affair. The lightly raced Oratorio gelding made big improvement although comfortably beaten into 5th in open company over this trip on local debut last month. That formline has worked out well with the runner-up Supreme Winter and 3rd placed entrant Perfect Peace winning their respective subsequent starts and the top selection should continue to progress in the province.

Race 3: SHERU(7)
Jockey: L HEWITSON - Trainer: Y BREMNER

The American import SHERU caught the eye when staying on late for 4th on debut in a weak sprint but he would have gained plenty from the experience and is bred to relish the rise to the mile. Of course the turn could be tricky for the four-year old gelding but his formline must be monitored with the progress of Jimmy Twist (runs in race 1) and Sunny (races in event 2).

TOP BET

Race 4: INGABANGABONGA(2)
Jockey: R KHATHI   - Trainer: S KOTZEN

INGABANGABONGA has produced fair local form and she will prefer this shorter trip after weakening late over a mile and a half in mixed company a fortnight ago. She should cope with the polytrack and merits healthy respect. The other grey filly KAZURI faded badly when she raced handy into a strong headwind last time and though she has many lengths to find with the top selection on that performance, she has shown promise over this c & d. The daughter of Dynasty can get much closer to the former this time around.

Race 5: KING DJANGO(7)
Jockey: C MAUJEAN - Trainer: T LAING

There are two formlines that dominate this competitive handicap and rather interestingly the respective contests were run over this c & d on 04/05 just 35 minutes apart. KING DJANGO's time was slightly inferior to GRAPE VINE that day but the entire' shouldered 60kgs and he ran on smartly for 3rd on his favourite surface and he has a decent mass this time around. He only finished a short head in front of the gutsy three-year old natural pacesetter GOLDEN SHAMROCK that day but is now 2.5kgs to the good.

VALUE BET

Race 6: IMPRESSIONIST(10)
Jockey: S DEVOY    - Trainer:  J STRYDOM

The lightweights could have a big say in this low-key handicap and IMPRESSIONIST produced a strong burst when he finished 3rd in a c & d contest recently and he can raise his game in this slightly higher grade. REBEL BARON was only a head adrift of the former when blinkered for the first time in the above-mentioned contest and he is 2.5kgs to the good.
