Race 3: SANTA CLARA(5)
Jockey: A DOMEYER - Trainer: C BASS-ROBINSON

SANTA CLARA is improving quickly and she showed up her strongly fancied stablemate NOUS VOILA when she ran on strongly for a three parts of a length defeat to CORAL BAY (1kg worse off) over six furlongs on soft ground earlier this month. The half-sister to Horizon has crucial experience around the turn and she should love the extra distance on her pedigree.

Race 4: FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT(13)
Jockey: G V/NIEKERK  - Trainer: J SNAITH

There are some highly rated sorts who should ensure a cracking finish to the first leg of the Pick 6 and none more so than FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT. This son of Captain Al is improving although he continues to be costly to follow. His first outing around the turn was impressive despite him being beaten by an average sort whom he conceded 4kgs to. There was merit in the performance as he overcame a wide draw and overraced when setting the tempo. Of course he leaps in class now but could still be worth following.

Race 7: ROCK MY SOUL(3)
Jockey: D DILLON   - Trainer: J RAMSDEN

In stark contrast to the prior marathon feature, this Grade 3 Derby could be run at a decent pace where stamina will be crucial, particularly on likely soft ground. The first selection ROCK MY SOUL has proven stamina over this trip and with cut in the turf as his workmanlike recent c & d triumph in a competitive handicap shows. In fact, he is one of only two entrants who is proven over this trip.

Race 8: CAVALLERIA(4)
Jockey: L BURKE - Trainer: P KRUYER

The slow-starting CAVALLERIA trounced her field when attempting this trip for the first time in mid May and though the chestnut picked up the deserved whopping fifteen pound penalty, she opened up an avenue for her conditioner and must still be respected. She will again benefit from a 4kgs apprentice allowance.

Race 6: INTOTHELIMELIGHT(2)
Jockey: A DOMEYER   - Trainer: C BASS-ROBINSON

The merit ratings may again not necessarily be the best guide here particularly in a marathon contest that is likely to be run at a sedate tempo. The imported bay filly INTOTHELIMELIGHT had shown smart form before her moderate last display over a mile behind the best weighted entrant FRESNAYE but the Bass-Robinson inmate has won over ten furlongs and she could be an entirely different proposition on her peak run today.
