Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: VODKA LIME(12)
Jockey: C Orffer  - Trainer: B Crawford

VODKA LIME had a promising debut over this c & d in open company despite being unfancied earlier this month and the bay filly would have come on appreciably from the experience.

TOP BET

Race 2: BLUE ROLLER(2)
Jockey: R Fourie- Trainer: M Robinson

BLUE ROLLER produced two smart c & d displays behind highly rated sorts last month and both those formlines have worked out extremely well. The speedy son of Blue Tiger should continue to progress with experience and he holds strong claims with Fourie in the saddle.

Race 5: LUCKY DANCER(4)
Jockey: B Fayd'Herbe - Trainer: J Ramsden

The Ramsden yard is well-represented in this seven furlong juvenile contest and LUCKY DANCER has shown promise in his short career but was gelded a mere three days after his last start. He finished runner- up to his stable companion Twist Of Fate (subsequent feature winner) that day and had his other stable mate TEMP THE TIGER just over a length further adrift. His pedigree indicates that he will relish this step-up in distance and he has experience around the turn.

Race 7: MAC DE LAGO(1)
Jockey:  L Burke  - Trainer: D Katz

MAC DE LAGO is closing in on nearly two years without a victory but the veteran campaigner and former Grade 1 winner seems to have turned the corner for his new conditioner judging by his last two runs. Of course the runner-up of his last outing Perovskia triumphed in a subsequent feature in KZN which boosts the formline and this six-year old will benefit greatly from the 4kgs apprentice allowance.

Race 6: CAPE XTREME(7)
Jockey: S Mbhele  - Trainer: C Bass-Robinson

The three-year old CAPE XTREME has produced some decent post maiden displays and in particular when he finished close-up behind many of today's hard-knocking older campaigners over this c & d despite racing wide six weeks ago. The manner in which he finished that contest suggests that he has much more to offer and the engaging of a 4kgs claiming apprentice could prove crucial.
