Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer: S Tarry

The juvenile COLLATERAL BEAUTY was well-supported on her decent debut over this distance last month where she should have finished closer but for some crucial traffic issues. In fact, she was promoted to 4th that day but more importantly would have come on appreciably from the experience and should make natural improvement. However, there are some in-form older rivals who should test the resolve of the first selection.

Race 5: SESS(3)
Jockey: C Zackey    - Trainer:  MG & A Azzie

SESS has shown signs of a form return lately and he was one of many rivals who finished well in a highly competitive recent ten furlong clash on this track last month. Of course that formline was given a lift when the 3rd placed runner Albacore won subsequently and this imported son of Pluck will prefer this longer trip.

Race 6: VIBURNUM(8)
Jockey: C Murray   - Trainer: M De Kock

The fast improving VIBURNUM was produced at the right time when he comfortably beat some hard-knockers over an extra furlong on his handicap debut six weeks ago and the de Kock inmate still appears ahead of the handicapper despite the resultant three pound hike. The son of Ideal World should raise his game further in this stronger company and the mile is no issue, particularly as he has drawn well again.

Race 7: SILVEZ(1)
Jockey: L Hewitson  - Trainer: S Tarry

The ultra-consistent grey daughter of Seventh Rock, SILVEZ has thus far proven costly to follow but she easily meets her weakest field today and should take all the beating if handling the mile. Of course her last formline was given a major boost when the 3rd placed entrant Poormanslady easily shed her maiden tag next time out and this track should suit the well-drawn inmate from the Tarry yard. She could again adopt frontrunning tactics.

Race 3: SWEET TRIAL(2)
Jockey: D Lerena    - Trainer - L Erasmus

The likely blistering pace in this five furlong maiden contest will suit the first selection SWEET TRIAL who crucially tries blinkers today. The bay gelding seemed unsuited to the yielding conditions in his last two flopped appearances but the Magner inmate had some decent prior form. The juvenile BIG SMOKE had an eye-catching first showing in a workrider's event last month and the well-bred bay would have come on with that experience.
