Race 1 

MATCHA MINT challenged strongly over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time, but found one too good in the form of Blizzard Quest. She is back against her own sex and jumps from a good draw of two. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most. 

DAISY JONES has produced two decent efforts to date. She stayed on at the finish last time but found one too good in the form of Schipole. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders. 

REJUVENATE set the pace over 1400m on the polytrack last time and tried hard all the way to the line. She finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 2

ICONIC WINTER is better than her last start over 1000m on this course. Her debut effort when third over this C&D catches the eye. The daughter of What A Winter will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon. Unless one of the first timers have ability, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure. 

BABETTE‘S FEAST is an unraced daughter of Hawwaam from the Mike and Mathew de Kock stable with Callan Murray booked to ride. She is related to two-time winner Secret Identity. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances. 

HEAVENLY GOOD is a daughter of Heavenly Blue from the Tony Peter yard with Gavin Lerena up. She is related to six-time winner Player. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 3

ONCEINABLUEMOON should have finished closer to the winner on debut over 1000m on this course. She took time to find her feet and had to be switched late. The daughter of One World would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1160m. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and should give the males a run for their money. 

AMANDLA NGAWETHU returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. He was disappointing in his last outing at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. On previous form, he may pose a threat. 

LANNYBOY was in need of his debut effort over this C&D. He would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression. 

Race 4

MISS ARGONAUT was an impressive winner of her last start over 1000m on the Inside course. She showed a good turn of foot and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. The daughter of Legislate has some class about her and she can follow up with another victory. 

ONE FELL SWOOP showed some signs of needing her comeback run over 1000m on this course. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this C&D. She will strip much fitter and the removal of the blinkers may do the trick. 

FAMOUS LADY showed some signs of a form return over 1400m on this course last time. She should have no issues with the drop to 1160m and can earn another cheque.

 

 

Race 5

GOLDEN ASPEN rallied late when second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has won once and finished third twice from ten starts over this C&D. The 6yo mare is in a good space and will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

VALIEVA is better than her last start over 1200m at the Vaal. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should pose a threat. 

LADY OF MEMPHIS ran a fair race over 1000m at the Vaal last time. She was reported to be coughing that day. The daughter of Royal Mo is back against her own sex and cannot be discounted. 

Race 6

DUAL PROPHECY stayed on at the finish when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Twice Over is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Callan Murray takes the ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most. 

MOLOTOV COCKTAIL made the expected natural improvement when winning his last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He takes on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand. 

STORM AHEAD is better than his last start over 2400m. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He finished 0.1 lengths behind VOLTE FACE in his penultimate run. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

Race 7

BACCHUS had excuses in his fair last effort over 1800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Master Of My Fate is at his best over this distance and can notch up his third-career victory. 

WECANGOALLNIGHT showed some signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D, last week Sunday. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. If this outing has not come too soon, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. 

COMMAND PILOT was doing his best work late when fifth over this C&D last time. He has cracked a good draw of four and must be considered. 

Race 8

PRIME VENTURE returns from a short nine-week break and is having his first run for the Barend Botes stable. Both his career victories have come over this distance. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena rides on his Highveld debut and from his good draw of four, he may be the one to beat. 

EIFFEL TOWER was running on when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Claw has come out and won again since. He drops back in class and merits healthy respect. 

BIRTHRIGHT stayed on at the finish over 1450m on the Inside course last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of William Longsword has cracked a good draw of two and he can return to winning ways
