Weather Forecast – Hamilton

Chiefs:

The Chiefs (-5.5 points on the handicap) held out for a 27-25 win over the Reds in Brisbane last week, their second successive win over Australian opposition.

The Chiefs won their Super Round match against the Waratahs 51-27, covering a 16.5 point handicap and Jonah Lowe scored 4 of their 7 tries as they bagged a bonus point.

They now have 7 wins and 3 defeats against their name and they finished Round 11 in fourth position with 32 log points, 2 shy of the Crusaders, 7 shy of the Brumbies and 8 adrift of the Blues. Their 3 defeats came home and away to the Blues and they also lost to the Crusaders in Hamilton.

In the outright betting the Chiefs are trading at around 9/2 to win the tournament.

Brumbies:

Despite starting the game as slight underdogs the Brumbies put the Hurricanes away 42-25 in Canberra last week, their second consecutive win over New Zealand opposition.

The Brumbies first match up with a New Zealand side saw them beat the Highlanders 28-17 in Super Round in Melbourne. Their only defeat so far came against the Reds in Brisbane (21-7) but otherwise they have a perfect record.

The Brumbies remain in second spot in the standings with a record of 9 wins and 1 defeat. They are 1 point behind the Blues and 5 better off than the Crusaders.

The Brumbies are currently trading at around 10/1 in the outright betting to win the tournament.

Betting Angle

This game is handicapped exactly where I thought it would be and I am once again going to be looking at some of the alternative markets on offer. The guests on last night’s Rugby Betting Show THE HANDICAP were both leaning towards overs in the total points market and with conditions set to be decent I am having a punt we will get 51 points or more in the game.
