Weather Forecast – Brisbane

Reds:

The Reds took on the Hurricanes in the Super Round in Melbourne last week. It was their first match against New Zealand opposition, they were given around 8.5 points start on the handicap and they charged into a 17-0 lead before the Canes came back with 30 unanswered points and 30-17 was the final score.

The Reds return to Suncorp where they have won all 4 of their matches so far. Their most recent home game came against the Brumbies and they came through with a 21-7 win to avenge an earlier defeat to the same opposition in Canberra.

The Reds have won 7 and lost 2 and finished the previous round in fourth place in the standings with 30 points, 3 behind the Crusaders, 5 shy of the Brumbies and 6 behind the Blues. In the outright betting the Reds are trading at around 9/1 to win the tournament

Chiefs:

The Chiefs won their Super Round match against the Waratahs 51-27, covering a 16.5 point handicap and Jonah Lowe scored 4 of their 7 tries as they bagged a much needed bonus point.

The Chiefs have 6 wins and 3 defeats against their name and they finished Round 10 in fifth position with 28 log points, 2 shy of the Reds. Their 3 defeats came home and away to the Blues and they also lost to the Crusaders in Hamilton.

In the outright betting the Chiefs are trading at around 9/2 to win the tournament.

Betting Angle

I handicapped this game at Reds at +5.5 so at first glance it is not easy for me to find value. After chatting with the guys on last nights The Handicap Rugby Betting Show I am leaning more and more to the Reds here and have an interest in the +5.5. The total points line is set at 48.5 and while I am tempted to go overs, Brisbane is often a low scoring ground and the Chiefs are a side that give me an impression of playing more unders games than overs.

Bet: 3 Units Reds + 5.5 at 9/10 at BetXchange
